They could do worse than Anthony Cunningham.

Thatā€™s a ā€œyis can throw yer fuckin hats at itā€ wide if ever there was by Kieran Molloy. Sympathy point by James Carr in a clear one on one.

Second half result: Mayo 2-8 Galway 0-3.

Galway football has never quite been the same since the All-Ireland quarter-final defeat to Kerry in 2002. In much the same way as Meath football lost its aura after the 2001 all-Ireland and subsequent defeat to Dublin the following year.

This one didnā€™t age well.

Mayo are some shower

Tbh I thought it was as much a Galway collapse as a Mayo fightback. Once Mayo scored the penalty in the 36th minute Galway just gave up.

Ah shure look it.

Mayo tested Galway manhood and Galway manhood was found wanting.

Nothing to do with manhood. Itā€™s legs and they didnā€™t have any with 20 minutes left to play.

Probably not. All his teams do is run around. Be grand.

Dual Manager? Hurlers and footballers? Have to make up the shortfall from not driving to Wexford so 4 sessions a week up the road in Galway will soften the blow a bitā€¦

They were awful long before the last 20 minutes

Thereā€™s a reason why Mayo started things in the tunnel at half time. Galway were running rings around them.

Last year it was Galway who were coming late and Mayo barely hanging on.

Two years ago Mayo tested Galway manhood from the start in that match in Limerick and again Galway manhood was found wanting.

A lot of ā€œlegsā€ is in the head. Momentum in matches often turns legs to jelly.

That said, I think the Croke Park factor probably favoured Mayo quite a lot. They are used to playing there and the surface, even the younger lads are used to it. Galway havenā€™t played there since 2018.

Very similar to Tipp last Sunday. Reckon they tried to blow Mayo away in the first half. Couldnā€™t quite manage it. Mayo paced themselves a bit better. There you have it.

Mayo detailed a few couple man markers and raised their effort levels a small bit and Galway had no answer. Galway very frustrating the last few years, always feel thereā€™s a good football team in them somewhere, and they always disappoint. Mayo are something else, they never go away.

They were 5 up at HT. Kicked 3 very scoreable wides after the break. Hit the crossbar. Comer dropped one short that he should have scored. They were still creating chances the first 15 minutes of the 2nd half. Arse (and legs) fell out after that.
