If you got an end of year email or report from Strava it’ll be on it. Or check on the desktop site
I got within 7 minutes of the great one last year.
Jaysus the head would be boiling off him there with the wooly hat on.
Young lad I hurl with did this. He’s on the verge of breaking onto the team. Question I’d have is, where’s the best place to play him to avail of an engine like that. Did a 43min 10km also.
Obvious answer is midfield. Any other out of the box ideas?
He’s doing the wrong training for hurling,
Any sporty young fella worth his salt would do those times if that’s what he trained for
But he is not training for that. There would not be one player on our SCT go anywhere near sub 20 mins. Tbh, thats very impressive running off the back of hurling training.
Play him half forward. He can track back and do lung bursting overlaps.
Wing back probably more useful the way the game is played now
You need half forwards who can work back and then break quickly.
Sorry @cluaindiuic, I didn’t really think out this response.
5,7,8,9,10 or 12
A good engine is important for all of them but you need more

There’s a lad in the Tri club now, who ran a 32 minute 10k at the end of a triathlon entirely off the back of soccer training. He was 19 at the time.
That must be almost unique in senior hurling. No wonder Cark get walked all over in the second half.
That’s a poor time for a lad as recently retired as him.
Id expect 3 or 4 lads on our senior team could rock up and run a 5k sub 20 without training for it. I know one did 19:30 recently with minimal training, but would be one of those naturally fit lads.
That’s mental. I’d be familiar with young lads like that. Surely the 6/7 & all the backs should break or nearly break 20. Rugby is more akin to sumo wrestling otherwise
Tom Kenny would have been a lovely runner I’d say.
I would say most Club GAA players would be breaking 20 mins for 5k.
You’d want to be breaking 21 mins anyway to have any hope of making it.
Corner back. Run length of pitch. Perpetual motion. Cork got to an All Ireland final in 2013 and probably should have won it off the back of being able to outrun teams.
Watch Laois this year @myboyblue
I find even the fittest lad struggles with a Hurley wrapped around his shins. I’d be surprised if a normal club had more than 5 or 6 who could do that kind of time tbh. Maybe at the highest level of club
