2022 European Championships - Munich

The Tipp lady threw away a very commanding lead and we finished 2nd but it doesn’t matter… Top 3 qualified.

Brilliant leg 1 + 3

@Mac would you change the order for the final

The last leg was the athletics equivalent of a Sergio Aguero tap in at the back post.

On paper, I think she’s our slowest 400m runner. The plan looked to be to give her a huge lead and for her to hold position and get into the final. Mission accomplished. Lane draw doesn’t matter all that much.

After the shambles from the lads this morning it was great to see a properly controlled and well planned race. Massive legs from Healy and Rhasidat

First after the first leg Sophie Ellis Bexter commited murder on the lane floor.
Healy calved second leg and ended up handing over in third.
Adeleke absolutely destroyed them, third to first and then handed over with an unassailable lead.
Mawdsley then was assailed, to finish second

That was a superb performance from the 4x400. Healy was definitely easing up, way more in her.

Ah they did, he talked a lot about how she was going after 200 and as she passed the baton they said that Ireland were leading, and that wasn’t obvious

When is the final?

The Brits, Dutch and Poles left their best runners on the bench. You’d think the fastest runner should be on the last leg but there’s no point in handing her a baton in last place. They might swap Mawdsley and Healy maybe or if its not broken don’t fix it

Traditionally you’d put the strongest athlete in the anchor - they were resting rhasidat as best they could

She’s such a talent. It’s exciting to see her every time she runs now. If she gets a bit of luck and stays injury free she could be anything

They’re nearly better not running her in the last leg as any chance could be gone by then. Given she’d be faster than most third leg runners I’d nearly keep her there. She just glides across the track. So much potential.

The other nations ran their B team.

That was terrific stuff from the Irish. :ireland::shamrock::clap:

Final tomorrow, according to Sharlene on BBC.

Wouldn’t you rather she gets the baton knowing exactly what’s required?

They should get a fast runner to run each leg really

Adeleke ran a 49.6 split.

Do we have the other splits @Julio_Geordio?

I’d be amazed if she’s not the anchor

Put her in and she’ll chase them down.

We may be about to see Ireland’s greatest sporting moment for 20 years

The Netherlands one must have ran a flyer in the second leg as Healy was actually faster than Becker
