Banjogeddon: 2022 Munster SHC Final - Limerick V Clare - June 5th 16.00

On this year’s form I meant. Agree with you over the past number of years.

Limerick will with a full deck could beat Clare by 25 points.

That’s where we have gotten to and I’m guilty of it myself. Down playing Limerick to try and make the build up some bit interesting.

I reckon Dan will recover his form but has McInerneys peaked I wonder?

No disrespect to McInerney saying that.

Dan more than most has been written off a number of times in the past. He has always come back and delivered. His introduction off the bench with Gillane last year in the Munster final in PuC was notable in how things calmed down there following that.

I think Dan Morrissey has been “finished” 7 times now at this stage.

With so many mules and useless players I don’t know we’ll win Sunday.

Nearly 9 years on…

Those were great times. Sheer delusion. We were awful godtelpises altogether. It was a great laugh for everyone, watching us so desperate for any bit of success before the inevitable collapse. 2013 was the pinnacle of the laughing. That fucking song “John Allen’s men” ringing out on the Clare terrace with a few minutes to go, and the laughing

But there hasn’t been much laughing in recent years though has there? No. That’s all stopped. Now it’s bile and begrudgery and hatred. And fear. Utter fear.

Drink it in man.

I think Clare would beat kk or galway tbh.

Limerick genuinely believe that the best game in Ireland is Limerick Vs Limerick reserves. It took kk two decades of dominance to get there. You’d have to admire it. They then wonder why nobody likes them :slightly_smiling_face:

O’Donnell would a nice impact sub for Limerick alright. Bring him on when the game opens up a bit. Where would Tony Kelly fit into the Limerick team? Midfield maybe? Would he have the work rate?

He wouldn’t make the Limerick 15.

Comparing players who would or wouldn’t get into another county’s team has always struck me as utterly pointless. Each team has it’s own dynamic and will mould their players to fit into it.

Kiey and Kinnerk have been very good at identifying certain traits, talents and raw material in players and then spend huge time on correcting their weaknesses. Every player has weaknesses and it is a sign of good coaching that they are minimised.

For example, Nickie Quaid was prone to going to ground too early and his puckouts were inconsistent at best. Mike Casey’s spatial awareness has been massively improved. Hegarty’s stickwork, Tom Morissey’s running style, Gillane’s right side and Flanagan’s wrists are now all unrecognisable from when they first came on the scene.

They may well have developed differently, or not at all, in another county or system.

He probably wouldn’t to be fair but I think we would try to accommodate him somewhere, we’d have to reconsider things if the flow of the team was disrupted though.

Beware Limericks, these Clare bucks don’t fuck about.

Very valid point. The improvement of a large number of players is a testament to their management and coaching and obviously the players themselves.

I have said it here numerous times but even someone like Mulcahy has been completely transformed as a hurler in his late 20s under them. Before that he was a nice corner forward but became about as industrious an inside forward as you could ask for and a tone setter.

Calm down dear.

The “how many individuals would get in the opposition team” argument has always been kinda silly, as much as we like to engage in it because of the nature of team sport and various tactics/systems/training methods that various teams employ.

It’s more about how various sides match up against each other. I think Clare did well enough in the middle third, both sides turned over a fair bit of possession but often Limerick walk all over teams. Limerick’s full-forward line was the real concern as enough decent ball went in, but it didn’t stick enough. Clare FB line will need to deliver an even better performance the next day, you would imagine.

Clare did well at finding spaces around the fringes when working the ball out, outballs to the wing to the man in space, the likes of Malone, Fitzgerald & Kelly found these positions a lot and got scores from them. Do Limerick sit off a little to cover this space or double-down on trying to get the turnover high up the pitch? I think they’ll try the latter which means that if Clare can get out, they’ll continue to exploit that space higher up.

I think Limerick will win because of the old adage, a good bigun will beat a good little un. Clare are a great side though. I could watch them all day. They play beautiful hurling

Where’s the best place to park coming from the south side? I’ve never driven from Cork before. I suppose there will be plenty of 5 euro parking options regardless…
