That ending by Wright was just majestic.
Put down the accelerator and Smith couldnāt live with it,

Well done @Watchyourtoes
Smith has absolutely blown it there. 5-4 and 2-0 up then loses 9 of the next 10 legs.
Terrific out of Wright though, a worthy winner.
Kids around the world will be looking for a Peter Wright Mohawk in their local barbers.
Smith needs to win some other big tournaments before he can live with the likes of Wright.
Fantastic work from Snakey
Wright delivers in the championships sets
That defeat will haunt Smith. One leg away from 6-4 up and lost his throw twice. I donāt know who Part and Mardle think theyāre trying to kid by saying he didnāt wilt. Wright definitely came strong but Smith wilted. The Hendry-White 1992 comparison seems very apt. Scotland over England, nine of the last ten legs. Wright is at his best thinking, Smith is at his worst thinking. That match more than any will cement Smithās reputation as a Jimmy White type character.
Smith in floods of tears.
Smith breaking down
Let Smith get off ffs
This is especially cruel
Woolyback Smith collapsed as badly as Sleepy Ralf and his charges just a few hours earlier against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Again with the 1992 comparison but I think this is the hardest final defeat for a player to take since Mike Gregory against Phil Taylor.
āGo practise your doubles mateā lol
Peter Wright visibly sorry for Smith.
Get Caroline Currid on the phone Smith, pronto
Iām all for a bit of emotion but contain yourself Smith.
He showed a lovely touch of class there. Heās not very charasmatic but heās a worthy champion
Smith lost composure when Wright came back at him. His throw went. Again, some sports pyschology would help him get over the line. I think Wright is 100 percent correct in saying that once Smith wins a major, he will kick on to a whole new level. Gary Anderson has said similar.
