Wright turned it on when pressure came on. Peter now has more world titles than Raymond Van Barneveld.
Gets harder the more you lose. Winning gets put on a pedestal. In 1992 before Hendry came back at him it was said of Jimmy White that there was a new maturity about him, the exact same thing I thought and said about Smith here - and there was - until what happened happened. When you have a new maturity about you and still collapse, what then?

Cheers pal, delighted for Snakey, gutted for Smith two of my favourite players but that was a well needed touch! He was in huge trouble but the experience really came through.

The Crafty Cockney had full blown dartitis by the time he was 31.
No guarantees in darts or any sport. Said it last night, Wright has a rock solid temperament. Woolyback has always been flaky.
He is but shit can happen, you can lose form, you can get distracted, your head can go. Gary Anderson would have to be the model for him. Outrageous talent but was considered mentally weak and continually flattered to deceive. Until he no longer did. If you can end up making the breakthrough when you have matured a bit age wise and mentally, itâs nearly the best time to do it, because then you value what you have won. Adrian Lewis won too much too young and lost the run of himself, now nobody ever even thinks about him as a potential contender. Michael van Gerwen isnât at Lewisâs level of decline but the signs arenât great with him either.

Smith needs to win stuff. He hasnât won anything and setting his sight on the sexy Worlds as a be all and end all is folly in my eyes.
He has the game to beat players in one off matches but has he the game to put them back to back in the heat of battle in a long set format?
No he hasnât. Wright was far too good for him at the end of the match. Smith needs to set his sights lower instead of pinging all his hopes on becoming World Champion and expecting it to just happen.

I seen more from Smith in this tournament to make me a believer. Prior to this championship, he was inconsistent and bottled matches he should have won.
I am pretty confident he will win it all in the next year or two.
