2022 PDC World Darts Championship

What level is Van Gerwen operating at these days? Would he have been in the hunt if he wasn’t struck down?

He absolutely has the game to do it. Has he the head is the question.

Don’t know. I was a believer that he would win it from a good bit out this year and a believer that he could overcome whatever demons were in his head - he hadn’t had any real Jimmy White style disasters at Ally Pally before this - and because I thought he had the game to overpower players. He was playing really well this year. To be honest I’d be less of a believer now that he has what it takes to overcome those demons. They’re only going to grow exponentially after tonight. James Wade was done as a real contender to ever win this tournament after he lost that 5-1 lead against Adrian Lewis, you knew he felt he lost his best chance to ever win it that night. The competition is such and there are a lot of mentally strong players out there that it’s hard to get back to a final.

I think Wright or Anderson would have beaten him. The fact that he was palling around with the other Dutch lads in a situation where it was obvious you were likely to pick up Covid shows he wasn’t single minded about winning it this year.

Of course MVG could have won it. Would have tipped him to get to final myself.

He needs to lose a bit of weight.

I’ve been told by a semi-serious arts player that losing weight can be a disaster for darts players. If they get used to throwing whilst they are fat, they can find it hard to adjust to being thinner. Different balance, different range of motion

He doesn’t look too healthy for a young fella. Stamina for the long matches must be an issue.

That sounds like a cop out for fatties that couldn’t be arsed putting in the hard work needed to move the flab.

A first round defeat for Fallon Sherrock at Q School.

Left 41 after 9 darts in the decider but not good enough.

500 quid to enter :joy:

Stuck in the madhouse :grimacing:

5-0 win for Fallon Sherrock in her last 256 game in Q school.

If she can beat Kevin Lane by a similar scoreline (nothing worse than 5-2 id say) then she may have a chance of scraping though to the next stage on leg difference.

Sherrock wins 5-1

She plays the winner of Wes Newton and Ross Montgomery.

She’d beat them with her cap.

Newton wins with a 84.48 average, Sherrock averaged 96.03 vs Kevin Lane.

Lauby is no mug

Some blast from the past there with some of those names. Lads still sticking with it chasing the dream.

If you ever go to those floor tournaments it can be a sad sight. No crowds no razzmatazz and the lads in their event shirts still trying away. Having to mark the boards when they get bet. All of them sitting around together at tables drinking pitchers of beer. I’d say it can get fairly soul searching if that is all you can go to and never make the stage tournaments again.
