Donât think Derry collapsed. I think their game was so brave, and so full of running, that they just ran out of legs. Galway hurlers could learn from it. Itâd make you feel sick the amount of running they do.
I wonder how long Clifford can keep up this kicking style before his body starts breaking down. Itâs like Liam Gallagherâs voice, he was warned for years his singing style was not sustainable because of the toll it was taking on his larynx, and sure enough it wasnât sustainable.

Once Clifford picked up the yellow yesterday, youâd wonder if McKaigue should have just taken one for the team and got into a tangle with him and got them both to pick up second yellows. Clifford would have been a far bigger loss to Kerry than McKaigue would have been to Derry and Derry would almost certainly now be preparing for an AI Final in two weeks.
But Chrissy and Derry have far too much integrity for that.

They had 2 or 3 horrendous wides in the last 10 minutes that completely screwed them, Kerry went down the field and converted.

Ethan Doherty and Glass underperforming cost them big time. Everyone else for Derry was more or less playing out of their skins or in McKaigueâs case doing his very best in an impossible situation.
Might be more important who they have picking up Paudie. Murchan wasnât really back to top speed the last day

Iâd give Meenagh a year, he deserves his shot if he wants it. But heâll need to make a few hard decisions. Lynch is the main one.
Malachy has unfinished business elsewhere.
Oh and Hercules needs a holiday. Gallagherâs decision to drag back in the Glen boys so soon after the All Ireland Club looked to hit home yesterday at times

It did.
Doherty and Hercules hit the wall big time.
They are going to be playing Division 1 next year and if Glen/Slaughtneil go close to all the way in the Club Hurling/Football it wont do Derry any good.
They should probably take their medicine in the League and aim to be coming right for the Round Robin in late May.
Big Lynchy in goals is very important to the overall system albeit he is an accident waiting to happen a lot of the time.
I think they need to stick with him and accept that yes, he could sink the ship at any stage, but itâs a risk worth taking.
Mick Fitzsimons surely. Heâd destroy Eoin Murchan. David Byrne another option too I suppose.
A Derry fan I was talking to yesterday mentioned Malachy straight away as the man to take them the next step. He also said pre-match that you donât win All-Irelandâs with Niall Toner and Niall Loughlin starting. He reckoned Loughlin Murray should have been in the 15.
