Sarsfield’s 13/2
Crossmaglen Rangers edging out Clonmel Commercials on the BOICMC last night.
Hors Catagorie stuff.
Where was that played?
Abbotstown I’d imagine
Ballykelly would be another possibility
That would sound less bitter if ye had said it any other year other than this one guys
Can their lads play with a division next year?
I take it back Dec

Are you saying there’s a chance?
Yes themselves and Stacks will both play with St Brendan’s. Traditionally a very weak board as their best clubs were senior. Would in theory have a cracking team. But stacks had no interest this year.
Na Gaeil are now the only senior club in Tralee which is such a turn around it’s absolutely hilarious. A major black eye for tradition
John Mitchels won 5 in a row in the 1960s now middle of the road intermediate, Austin Stacks most succesful club in Kerry alongside Dr Crokes also intermediate and now Rahillys intermediate. So yeah a serious black eye for tradition as you say
But look it happening elsewhere, Glen Rovers in Cork, St Vincents in Dublin were relegated out of senior 1 for a year recently. I think Clarecastle were relegated in Clare?
Fair play to Na Gaeil, club is only about 40 years old
The format in kerry is just wrong now on so many levels
With Tralee Parnells going senior hurling in 2024 and Dr Crokes senior hurling since 2022, Kerry will have 10 senior hurling clubs in 2024 and as things stand just 8 senior football clubs!!
Leads to a situation where the kerry intermediate champions are ridiciliously strong at all ireland level, not fair on other counties
Also, some of the kerry senior county footballers are playing up 10 -12 games across the club championship and county championship, remember the local district club championship are now commencing also. some of county players flogged after the inter county season ends
And then the worst of all, the club county hurling championship has to be wrapped up by the August Weekend to facilitate multiple football championships
Major change needed
What’s the logic behind having just eight senior clubs in a county the size of Kerry?
8 clubs plus 8 divisions = 16
format needs to change, I would be saying 12 senior clubs
Rahillys might want 16 as they will need it to stay senior. best players they have are veterans and players living abroad who show great commitment to fly home to play the big matches. They are not able to field at some underage levels without joining with others
that is it, nice for the format
also in line with a Croke Park Dictat re 16 teams
Kerry need to get a derogation from Croke Park to have 20 teams. 12 senior clubs and 8 divisions, the 8 divisions play a prelim round to reduce them to 4 in the championship proper
It’s not really a gaa county
Win every inter and junior all Ireland club going
But they sacrifice the very fabric of the club structure. They dont really see any societal value in the gaa, its rrally just about a couple of big days out in the big smoke
