We actually watched together in horror the Kilcoo collapse unfold in front of our eyes after coming home today.
I know there’s been great glee taken at Kilcoo’s expense on this thread today, but its hugely unsatisfactory that they are gone. It had to a Glen v Kilcoo trilogy. That’s the game we wanted. Last years epic was without doubt the best GAA spectacle in terms of colour, noise and vitriol since the Pandenic ended. This year it would have gone up another notch. You need pantomine villains like Kilcoo.
A Glen v Scotstown final just doesnt get the blood thumping to the same degree. Malachy O’Rourke has those Scotstown lads well and truly figured out and we could end up with a similar tale to the 2021 Semi Final when Glen hammered them by 9 points.
Mid 30s, I’d say 35. Debuted for Camross as 15, maybe earlier. He scored 1-13 today, given he was barely fit to start the county final that’s fair going. An odd fish but by fuck he’s the epitome of Camross.
Some man to strike a sideline too, as good as any in the business, did it again today. A magician. He exploded his knee against Kerry in a shithole somewhere akin to a car park once upon a time, he did well to make it back at all. He wasn’t meant to figure this year at all either but Shur he’s as mad as a bag of hammers when it comes to Camross. He didn’t lick it off the road either. You’d never question his commitment to the black and amber.
Tbf Chedd got him on board as did Zoom, but he was out as much as he was in. But when Chedd had everyone pulling in the one direction he built that team around Matthew, Joe Fitz, Zane, Willie and Pickie. Ziggy was fully in for the most part with Chedd.
He isnt standing out really at all. Good for Dingle to have him but more important to them is getting Barry OSullivan back from injury, he is their best midfielder by far
There’s a remarkable contrast between the gutteral realism of the club championship and the engineered faux showdown of the county ‘dub vs kerry’ county facade… i almost feel sorry for clifford when referees patiently take a moment to explain how this isn’t really about him
I would give Acheson credit as a clubman. He was putting in the work with underage teams from u10 teams up alongside Brian White (former ref) over a dozen years ago.
Ah ya he’s very unassuming. I actually met him once and didn’t know until after who he was. Couldn’t believe how wealthy he was.
Big financial backer of Tipp GAA and especially Commercials. Doesn’t sit in the VIP Section of the stand or land on in a chopper to games like other billionaires.
I could see Na Piarsaigh really trying to rough them up early doors. Being outscored 1-11 to 0-04 in the second half last year is sure to have stuck in their craw for the past 12 months. Ballygunner really sewed it into them too once they got on top.
I could see a sending off or two in it, although Ballygunner’s discipline is unreal- these past few years.
