Hurlingās new rules trial is doomed to fail, insists DCUās head of Gaelic...
Hurlingās experimental rules are doomed to fail, according to Paul OāBrien, DCUās head of Gaelic games.
That Paul OāBrien aka professor hurling expert reffed it.
He doesnāt think anyone is throwing the ball, amazing heās allowed officiate such games with that view.
Hes not a ref. Heās the MLR manager.
Obviously 1 & 2 will be reversing thereā¦ the rest remains to be seen.

Apologies. Delighted they were beaten so.
Glen yet to put in a performance. Id say that rating is largely due to most people seeing them as defending championsā¦
They are cooking like a good Roast Dinner.
They are.
My Rankings will at least include all remaining sides left in the competitionā¦
I wouldnāt have Lomanās bottom. Impressive side.

Iād say you havenāt a notion who you are talking about.
My view is tainted by this.

That was fantastic scheduling of the OLG v MLR game yesterday. What time did it throw in at?
A brilliant low winter sun on show in the first half, and then the lights on for the second half as the light declined. Not quite a full day/nighter but the perfect mix of light and darkness.
Reminded me a little of one of my favourite ever sunsets at the 2010 Munster Club Football Final when Nemo edged out Dr. Crokes (played in January 2011). There was something in the air that winter with all the cold weather but we got some spectacular sunsets.
GAANOW Rewind Munster Club Final 2010 Dr Crokes v Nemo Rangers
@Cheasty Iām sure will have an opinion on this.
There was a lovely mix of weather at the exceedingly attractive double header at Parnell Park on November 22nd, 2014. Krokes Kilmakud v Ballyhale Shamrocks in the hurling had a lovely low yet warm winter sun and the Neller was bathed in sunshine. Then there was a 40 minute break during which the sun sank out of sight before St. Vincentās v Garrycastle in the football, the first of half of which was played in dusk. Then the second half was played in pitch dark and the air turned freezing, you had to do some Johnny on the spot trots to keep a certain amount of body heat in there even under a big coat.
It was very similar to the weather at the TV double header the time Tipperary won the Munster football final followed by Cavan winning the Ulster football final in 2020, except at one venue, rather than two.
I do love a good mid-October sun but weāre past that now for this year.
Daithi Burke has returned to the Corofin senior football panel and will be available for selection on Saturday against Ballina.
Heās granite.
In other news, Peter canavan seems to ascribe a lot of Gaelic footballās current malaise to goalkeepers coming out the field. To me it always looks a risky ploy, but Iām not sure you could attribute massed defence to it.
Yeah I donāt really get that either. Would have thought it was a way to beat a massed defence rather than a cause of one. Surely once the goalie comes out you move a pacy lad in around the square behind him and if you turn it over kick long to him and he has a shot into an empty net
I think it is higher risk. I donāt think a stick goalie would have changed the face of Mcmickeyball.
I would be in agreement with Canavan, itās much easier for a team with limited skills to retain possession and get overlaps if you have a man constantly free.
Seems to be no build up at all to Na Piarsaigh v Ballygunner & Kiladangan v Clonlara on Sunday.
AIB appear to have given up on it.
