2023 Club Championships

Lack of a potential ‘fairytale story’ for them to stick onto probably hurts their ambition to pump money into it.

Do not let yourself down today lads. I want to go to Croke Park on Paddy’s Day, I want to go there more than anything in the werrerld…

That was a great ad.

And the one with Gooch on about still dreaming of winning an AI Club.

There should be an ad like that on during the news every night of the week from August onwards.

It was tbf the first 40 times, but it did my head-in in the end . It had the desired effect though, I’m here talking about it 10 years later

Exactly that’s what you need.

The longer format of the ad was a cracker. Really got to the pitch of these occasions. Anyone know the name of the song used?

Nap v ballygunnar is a hard sell tbf.

It should be a good game though.

It should be an easy sell. Just letting people know about it would be a start. Get a bit of media going and try to get a few good quotes from players/management.

Colin Fennelly did as much as he could for the Ballyhale v Ballygunner game last year and the GAA still managed to score a big own goal on it, clashing it with France v Argentina.

The FAI Cup final got 45k because they were able to get a load of momentum behind it, but there’s no willingness from the GAA to generate any interest in these Club games.

i’d say there wont be 1,500 people at the Kiladangan match Sunday with maybe 3k in the TUS Gaelic Grounds

Gaa has no interest in diversifying or growing the games.

Give me a bit of background on those matches? Who’s playing who? Did MLR win the final?

For once you’re telling the truth.

Mount Leinster Rangers edged out Loughgeil Shamrocks by 1 point in Newry. Watson nearly pulled it out of the fire on his own for Loughgeil.

Portumna beat Na Piarsaigh handy enough in Thurles. The last dance from the great team. Ronan Lynch on his senior debut for Na Piarsaigh was very good.

In Football, Castlebar beat Dr. Crokes in a big enough shock. Gooch tore his cruciate.

St. Vincents edged out Ballinderry Shamrocks in the other game.

Portumna and Vincents won the Finals handy enough.

A Tullamore player that shoved a referee to the ground has seen a 96-week ban reduced to just 24 weeks.

A non-playing member of the Offaly club’s panel pushed Barry Tiernan after their Leinster Championship defeat to Summerhill.

A 96-week ban was originally proposed, but with the aid of Omagh solicitor Conor Salley, Tullamore successfully argued down the proposed suspension.

I’m just after learning that Cratloe took Castlehaven to extra-time but eventually lost by 4 last weekend. Hadn’t heard a thing about it in the media.

Why would you bother?
Is he very involved in the club?

I completely missed it Sunday and was actually talking to a Cratloe player Monday without nentioning it. I felt a bit foolish afterwards given we always talk football when we meet.

It was some score to take it to ET. But it’s only football.

Can RTE switch TV coverage from Corofin v Ballina to Monivea Abbey v Kilmeena tomorrow?
