It was a pleasure to watch David Burke out there for what could be his final masterclass in Croker. A lad with no running left in the legeens, back from a fairly serious injury that almost finished his playing days, having to mullock like he never mullocked before and ending up covering the job of two men once Regan got the line. Canning is Canning but David Burke is a close second in the best Galwaymen of those last 30+ years I followed grab all association.

Canning is the best ever forward we had, Burke the best ever midfielder. Pity they only won one. But then thankful they won one too

One of our best ever. If only he was 10 years younger.

You’re a nawful man

Yes i stuck my neck out on Glen Maghera and have been vindicated.

I like to follow the Harry Findlay model of spotting a “winner” a mile away and jumping aboard a bandwagon nice and early. I’ve had them at 7/2 to win it out since September (i had them last year too but we wont go there) Now the numbers men will probably tell me that was a terrible bet, but I’d rather have an opinion and have a proper go at something like that than be taking nibbles at UL -20 in some Fitzgibbon match.

Funnily enough going up today i thought this hsd an ‘end of process’ feeling to it for Glen - U14, U16 4xU18, 3xU21 2x Ulster Senior Champions… Now they’ve effectively conquered Club Football.

However after today i think they’ll want to win it better. They’ve the best young footballer in the country since David Clifford joining their Senior ranks next year. They played today without 2 very good players from the start and another 2 went off injured. They fell over the line in many ways so i think they’ll want to come back and win it better.

Me too and that includes Joe.

The Ulster club football championship will continue to be difficult to win. Kilcoo will be back for another go next year and I’ve been told Beggan is unlikely to make it a the NFL so he will be back for Scotstown.

Glenties have the best minor in Donegal eligible next year and they arguably came the closest to beating Glen when Ciaran Thompson managed to drop a breaking ball unopposed and Ethan Bradley kicked a bomb. Glenties were the better team on that night.

Even in Derry, Slaughtneil and Magherafelt are strong.

What was the record Paddy’s day attendance for the club finals?
@endakenny @peddlerscross

There should be infractions issued for posting Ray Boyne tweets

Flannery was stink today but kept working hard. He has good pedigree though, started for NUIG fitzgibbon for a couple of years.

A club like Toms only have the bare 18/19 so they can’t really take off a fella like that because no matter how bad he’s going, you’re bringing on worse.

What do castlehaven do the wrong way?

He really stuck with it tbf.

Glenties were gifted a soft enough penalty to be fair. I thought Glen were comfortable enough before that decision. Scotstown really had them under the cosh. McCarron missed a goal chance you’d have banked on him scoring. Glen were steeped to win that game by 2 in the end. Even at the death one of the Hughes nearly scored a goal to level it.

The best Minor Footballer in Ulster and Ireland will be playing with Glen next year.

The second best will be playing for Glenties. I think Glenties and Scotstown are over the hill to be honest now.

Kilcoo and Errigal Ciaran are the two clubs to watch.

The Cahalane’s should be playing their club football for St Finbarr’s I think.

He had the best back in the country on him for alot of the game.

Poor Mikey Butler got a right blaguarding today. Every time he tried to run up the field he was dragged to the ground and the officials didn’t want to know.

I thought Glass’s goal really showed the importance of having an extra man standing on the goal line
