Mike, stop. Just, stop.
High attendances for rugby matches at the 2015 World Cup was your point. There are 7 quid tickets to be got for kids. Average price £35, cheap prices, you wouldn’t get a Premier League match ticket for that. Of course people went, it was cheap as chips.
The average ticket price for all tickets, at all the various sales, was 104 pound.
Helpfully and most coincidentally, the BBC have released a survey on the Premier League today though, which can read through if you like.
I don’t think anybody paid to go to a match in the last rugby football world cup. Organisers presumably took the calculated risk that they could charge whatever they wanted and tickets would still be bought in bulk by the corporate sector. A day out at the rugby football is largely for people who don’t attend actual sporting events or like sports.
“Daddy got tickets from McCann Fitzgerald for the Romania game, Amanda!”

Best fans in the world™ when asked to attend a home competitive game
How many competitive home games do the international rugby team have each year?
Minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3.
0 until 2023 at the earliest.
Euro 96 had 2 venues with a capacity of over 45,000. 2015 World Cup had 6 venues. Cheap tickets and larger venues. Makes sense more would attend.
The Rugby World Cup 2015 had the most expensive average ticket price of any sporting event in history.
It isn’t RWC 2015’s problem that England 96 couldn’t get bigger stadiums.
What’s your excuse for Euro 2016?
Can you adjust the figures for inflation please

The fact there was only one home nation at the footie as opposed to England, Scotland Wales and Ireland competing in 2015 World Cup.
You’ve too much time on your hands if this is the drivel you are resorting to Tim.
What exactly are we arguing about here? I want in.
Comparing rugby football attendances to a sporting event is very foolish. A better comparison would be to compare the rugby football numbers to something similarly non-sport related which passes for entertainment and which attracts girls/ladies going in groups, couples and older people on corporate tickets. For example, it’d be much worthier to compare rugby football attendances to a stadium or arena tour by Take That or The Script.
Jerry Thornley of TFK thinks that because average attendances at World Cup 2015 were higher than Euro 96 that… I’m not sure what his point was really. Just thought I’d call him out on another shit stat/graph.

Can’t we all agree that Irish fans of international rugby and soccerball are both bandwagon jumpers.
