Lachlan Murray really arrived today. Jordan Flynn showed real bottle in extra-time when everyone around him was wilting. You can see Ciaran McDonald’s influence on him.

He looked like he was cramping alright. Maybe it was more. Was it strange Mayo brought none of the lads they took off back on. Maybe they were spent to be fair. But a few of the subs weren’t offering much
They took Eoghan McLoughlin off at half-time and he was playing shit but I thought he could have seriously offered legs in extra-time, he was surely well-rested by then.
Wouldn’t let him near a penalty but could have made an impact.

His football is cat, constantly makes basic skill errors hence why his only role should be as an explosive sub as you suggested.

It’s some going for Derry to end up in the quarter finals having only managed to win 1 of their 5 championship games, a 4 point win over Westmeath. Across their other 4 games their cumulative scoring difference was 22 points against.
Only this nonsense of a split season, microwave blitz format championship could throw up an anomaly like that.

The split season has nothing to do with the format, which is shit.
But provincials aren’t going anywhere so whatever format is always going to be a mess. You either go back to provincials in which case there’s no challenge for Kerry or Dublin until the semi finals or you basterdise it like it is currently.
They need to move the whole thing back two weeks which they will next year. And cut the fluff two teams from the groups in football and no Joe Mac in the hurling.
Hurling would be perfect then.
Football will end up with dead rubbers the last day. But its either dead rubbers or no one is really knocked out.

Do you want good teams training all year and then being immediately knocked out in a one off game? We were written off, wenhad to go to mayo and win ffs. We’ll play three games in the space of a fortnight, and everyone hates us, including ourselves
