2026 All Ireland Football Championship

It’s miles too easy to hold possession now.

Woeful spectacle as well and with ten minutes to go the hooter looms large and games just fizzle out.

Brutal stuff altogether

The golfer Darren Clarke once said that bread’s only function was to serve as a means of transport for butter to enter your stomach. Gaelic football’s only function now is to serve as a means of transport for alcohol to enter your stomach.

You need to be drunk to watch it and if you aren’t drunk watching it you’ll damn well feel like getting drunk after watchng it, and not in a good way.

People on the stand around me yesterday weren’t even watching the match, they were talking about restaurants. There was a lad of 20 beside me for the first half and he left the game at half time.

Serious football discussion has ceased to exist, because there’s nothing to talk about any more.

Exactly. There’s no big swings or second half comebacks under these new rules. And if a man is sent off it’s game over.

Did Wicklow not come back and win the other day.

What a load of scutter. Are you drunk?

The advanced mark caused significant consternation in the stands yesterday. “How’s he giving him an advantage when there wasn’t even a tackle or a free?” etc etc…

You have an amazing ability to show your ignorance on all subjects, not just one. There are so many subjects you show a complete and utter ignorance. Now, just two things off the top of my head. One, Louth had a man sent off and won the game against Monaghan. Two, there were two games off the top of my head that I can recall that there were good comebacks. Galway were six points up against the Dubs, yet lost the game by, I think, four or five. And secondly, Cork were seven points down against Donegal, yet won the game. Okay, so that disproves just what you said.

It’s full of comebacks. Wicklow came back from 10, 9 and 13 points in arrears to win their quarter-final, semi-final and final in the Tailteann. Louth beat Monaghan two weeks ago having played 65 minutes with 14 men.

Gaelic football has become so full of comebacks that it has become like basketball where there’s feck all point watching before the last few minutes or golf where some tournaments only begin on the 10th hole on Sunday.

There’s basically no meaning to anything that happens before the 60 minute mark.

Goodness gracious me @Godshonesttruth @Aertel220 do you not think @glasagusban was being sarcastic in response to @BruidheanChaorthainn? Is there anybody else I can tag here? @Horsebox any thoughts?

I’m completely lost.

This is beneath your calibre of moderating, but I can see why you felt you had to step in

Peddlers mentioned the five all Ireland semi finals / finals we’ve had under the new rules.

They’ve been awful.

Not sure where Wicklow or Wexford come into that.

This dispelled yet another new rules myth, that you can’t win if you receive a red card.

Ah lads.

Mayo aren’t even any good and have ended up in an All Ireland Final.

Louth, like Meath last year are no good either despite what the likes of Tommy Rooney will tell you.

Dublin had completely given up on the whole thing until about three weeks ago when they decided to suddenly start committing again and very nearly beat Kerry only for some very dubious officiating.

The long and short of it is that its not a serious sport anymore.

You seem to have got very unlucky there . We had a nice mix of yerras and dubs and it was anything but disinterested viewing in our section. The yerras were in fact apoplectic for the first 7/8mins of the second half. Any match that theatens supporters with an aneurysm is a decent watch.
You’re like one of those lads who is delighted when he finds the return scheme machines are broken.
