Maybe i am a bit simple but generally when people go planting bombs or firing rockets they intend to kill people. And i don’t think they are too bothered who gets in the way. On either side of a conflict.

A large proportion of IRA bombs have been designed to inflict economic damage on Britain, with a few notable exceptions. There were no human targets at Omagh or Warrington.

Yes. MI5 knew the bombing was going to take place but did nothing to prevent it, instead they meddled to make sure it was a tragedy. The ‘dissidents’ have been so heavily infiltrated since their inception that it would be impossible for MI5 not to know this was taking place. Those who made and planted the bomb were only the small players in Omagh. Why would they look to kill innocent civilians in a heavily populated nationalist town, a town in which was one of the more anti-GFA in the O6?

These organisations are riddled with informants and double agents, the armed republican movement has been pretty much dead since Adams decided to move towards a settlement in the late 80’s. While there is a massive sense of disillusionment within the nationalist community the outcomes of the GFA agreement, these groups are never likely to manifest themselves into anything other than a occasional nuisance for the Brits.

Find me one Republican who celebrates the death of Jonathan Ball and Tim Parry or celebrates the Omagh bomb.

On the other hand, somebody like Baruch Goldstein who shot 29 civilians to death is lauded by many Israelis as a hero.
