The next time anybody asks whether Israel has a right to defend itself, they might address this.
It would appear the Israeli Army is rather inaccurately named.

Why do people in Ireland care so much for Palestinians but donât seem to give a fuck about Uyghurs?
They cant spell it
Maybe people expect more from a democracy in the way they conduct self defence. Most of the other tribes in the world suffering oppression arenât getting it at the hand of a nation claiming to be just like us.
The far side of Dromkeen
They donât care about Palestinians, they care about Palestinians suffering at the hands of Israel. What they conveniently ignore is how Palestinians have been treated historically and even today by Arab nations in the region. Just in Syria alone over 4,000 Palestinians have been killed in the past 10 years (more than those killed in the Israeli Palestinian conflict) and there are at least another 2,000 in prison today. Over 600 Palestinians were murdered in Syrian prisons during the civil war, including 37 women, all tortured to death.
As long as itâs Arabs killing Palestinians the UN and the international media ignore it, only Israel killing Palestinians matters. The Palestinian cause has little to do with caring about Palestinians and much more to do with hating Jews and hating Israel. Itâs largely based on guilt as the Jews who settled in Israel were refugees from Arab states where they werenât wanted, or the few who escaped from Europe where they were herded into concentration camps and murdered in their millions.
You have to ask the question what if the state of Israel had never been established, what would have happened to the Palestinians? The answer is they would be scattered over a variety of countries like Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Eqypt, a minority ethnic group like many others. The idea that the Arab nations who fought in the 1948 war would have established a Palestinian state is farcical, they would have fought over the land and divided it up.
You literally completely avoid the issue.
The issue is Israelâs brutal oppression of the Palestinian people.
Trying to change the subject and go on the attack because of your inability or refusal to address the issue is classic pro-Israel propaganda, itâs classic propaganda in general.
Thread:
I grew up in France, in a Jewish community where the norm was unconditional love and support for Israel. Zionism wasnât even named because thatâs all we knew. Jews were nearly wiped by pogroms and repeated holocausts, and a Jewish state was the only way to keep us safe.
2/16
All Zionism is rooted in trauma and fear. It is first and foremost an ideology of self-liberation. Itâs about love Jewish people, survival for Jewish people. But Zionism is like any other ethnic nationalism, itâs about prioritizing our safety and well-being.
3/16
Like all nationalisms, we were fed a historical narrative completely divorced from reality: that Palestine was a largely uninhabited piece of desert before we settled it; that in 1948 Palestinians willingly left because they were making room for Arab armies toâŚ
4/16
âŚâthrow Jews to the seaâ; that Arab leaders turned down all Israeli and US peace offers and were unwilling to share the land; that Israel is the only democracy in the Middle-East; that despite terrorism, the IDF upholds the highest moral standards; so on and so on.
5/16
So the first reason that Israelis will never willingly make peace with Palestinians is that Israelis (and Zionist Jews around the world) live in a parallel world. They know alternate historical facts that feed more nationalism, militarism, and extremism.
6/16
The second reason is that the past 100 years of conflict have dehumanized Palestinians in the eyes of Israeli Jews. I mean this in a literal way: Israelis are not able to empathize with Palestinians, they arenât able to comprehend Palestinian suffering.
7/16
So when the IDF bombs Gaza and kills children, the average Israelis thinks that 1) it is the Palestiniansâ faultâfor not agreeing to peace, for continuing to threaten and attack Israel, etc 2) Israel is merely defending itself and that there is simply no alternative.
8/16
The same rationale justifies Gazaâs open-air prison; military checkpoints in the West Bank; bulldozing homes; etc. Israelis even made up the term âPallywoodâ, because for them, itâs all a show to turn the world against Israel. The suffering is either fake or self-inflicted.
9/16
Of course, there are some Israeli leftists and anti-Zionists who fight for Palestinian liberation. But itâs a tiny, and shrinking, minority. Most Israelis donât consider what it means for Palestinian freedom, dignity, and physical well-being to be systematically erased.
10/16
Israel is, by every definition, an apartheid state: if a Jew and an Arab commit the exact same crime in the West Bank, they will face two different legal systems. The Jew will face a civil court, the Arab will face a military court. Two legal systems for two ethnic groups.
11/16
But Israelis canât fathom that this is unjust. When they fight against people calling the occupation of the West Bank âapartheidâ, itâs because Israelis genuinely believe that itâs all self-defense and needed and legitimate.
12/16
These two factors (alternate history and dehumanization) mean that it is physically impossibleâand I mean that in the most literal wayâfor Israel to willingly end the occupation and agree to a just solution to the conflict. Peace cannot come from within Israel.
13/16
Israeli society is getting more extreme, more nationalistic, more violent, and more entrenched in its own historical narrative & its own self-victimization. At this point, it is simply delusional to expect that things change will come from Israel.
14/16
The only thing that can bring Palestinian liberation is if the cost of the occupation outweighs its benefits. And that requires, just like for the apartheids in South Africa and the US South, massive external pressure.
15/16
That means consumer boycott of Israeli goods, corporate boycott of Israeli technology, and sanctions by Israelâs main trade partner and political supporters, the US and EU. Those are the only measures that can meaningfully push Israel toward ending the occupation.
16/16
France willingly deported 76,000 Jews during WWII, 11,000 of them children. Almost all were murdered in Auschwitz. Itâs no wonder the French are trying to absolve themselves by pointing out how evil Jews are.
There we have it.
Because the Holocaust happened, Israel has a right to be as murderous as it wants now.
The Holocaust excuses EVERYTHING.
And apparently a French Jew now who sympathises with the Palestinian cause was complicit in the Holocaust.
I donât recall labane1917 taking that sort of attitude about the treatment of white farmers in Zimbabwe by the Mugabe regime.
Strange that.
Whatever happened Labane1917, did he get the sack from his job, did the wife leave him, or did the FBI catch up with him?
I donât know, youâd have to ask him. All internet personas eventually end up being slaughtered.
Except for @myboyblue.
According to @Fulvio_From_Aughnacloy someone using that handle was posting on a rival GAA forum and got himself banned. It doesnât sound like something our beloved labane would do though, sounds more like something a fraudulent character lacking in morals would get up to.
Matt Gaetz?
But shur, we can understand why Israelis are doing it, apparently.
