Aberdeen v Celtic

There’s been some awful orange bastards of refs in the last 10-15 years - Dallas, McCurry, Dougal and McDonald spring to mind.

Dougal was the worst for me.

Most football fans manage to desist from pelting coins at referees and repeated pitch incursions regardless of what time of the day, what day of the week a game is played on and the chanting of the opposition fans.

Celtic fans have repeatedly been involved in some of the most worst excesses of hooliganism in the British game over the years. The attack on the Rapid Vienna goalkeeper back in the mid 80’s, the rioting after the 1980 Scottish Cup Final and the Celtic yob who was making aeroplane gestures at Claudio Reyna a few days after 9/11 other particularly unsavoury episodes that would immediately spring to mind.

Most football fans did desist from throwing coins that day, are you claiming the majority of 60 odd thousand fans there that day were throwing coins?

Aberdeen keep up their 100% winning start to the season with a win at Partick Thistle. Three Irish players in action again today for Aberdeen - Wilo Flood, Adam Rooney and Jonny Hayes.

Next league game is at home to Celtic at Pittodrie. A home win there would be a real statement of intent.

Aberdeen are trailing St Johnstone 5-1 at Pittodrie today. Hapless Ronny Deila and his stuttering Celtic side will have a chance to close the gap on the table topping Dons at Hamilton tomorrow.

When you’re operating in what’s possibly the most uncompetitive domestic championship in the world, Celtic can still get away with stuttering and haplessness and win the league in a canter.

Aberdeen are two goals down in Dingwall tonight and will need to pull something out of the fire in the last 15 minutes.

Good 4-0 win for Aberdeen at Kilmarnock today and with Celtic losing at home to Motherwell, the Dons are just one point behind now - albeit Celtic have a game in hand.

Its been good stuff of late again from Aberdeen. After the record breaking 8 straight wins to start the season, there was a horrible run of just point from 5 games, but in the last 6 games, its been 16 from 18 points.

thanks for the stats mate

Massive win for the Dons today, @GeoffreyBoycott. They were down to ten men and a goal behind before storming back to win in Dingwall.

The importance of that result cannot be underestimated. Ross County are no pushover, particularly at Dingwall. Next up now is Celtic’s visit to Pittodrie on Wednesday night.

Is tomorrow nights game on the box?

It’s on Sky Sports something or other, pal.

I’ll be watching this match chez @Bandage. He promises drinks and nibbles. Will hardly sleep a wink tonight in anticipation.

Aberdeen starting team for tonight:

Brown, Logan, Taylor, Reynolds, Shinnie, Hayes, Storie, McLean, McGinn, Church, Rooney

Some real Irish interest here with a former Donaghmore gaelic footballer Niall McGinn and two Dubs - Jonny Hayes and Adam Rooney all in the starting XI.

He won an All Ireland minor along with Colm Cavanagh and Cathal McCarron.

Didn’t know that. Was he a starer/impact sub or just on the panel?

He was a starter from what I recall.
