Abortion Referendum Thread

Iā€™m not quite sure what youā€™re getting at here mate,
My opinion is simple enough, women have already and will continue to die under the terms of the 8th, others have been emotionally destroyed, I look at my own children and if I imagine that scenario it makes me feel like itā€™s the Middle Ages, the vote to repeal the 8th is in front of us now, nothing else
To the families involved the life of the mother is worth all the unborn babies in the world, Iā€™m not happy with abortion on demand but Iā€™m less happy with the other option we have

What parents are these?

What about the children who are homeless, the children that are neglected in their own homes?

Give people a choice, they should have the freedom to do whatever they want with their own bodies

What about them?

Are you saying we should be killing homeless babies or the ones that are neglected.

People shouldnā€™t be given the choice to kill babies or deny them the right to live simply because they are unhappy with the consequences of their actions.

Interesting point. I thought that a problem with the yes side on the Late Late last night was that you had two doctors, both fine on the medical evidence side, but neither of them were proper ā€œpro-choicersā€.

The idea that a 2 week old foetis has the same moral value as a 6 month old one is clearly wrong and no one on any side believes it. Aquinas doesnā€™t accept it, as I posted above.

The church says you can murder an unborn but refused to baptise them.

I suppose it canā€™t make its first communion or conformation either

You donā€™t seem to realise what a baptism is.

You should keep your ignorant views to yourself.

Theyā€™re already killing the unborn pal, 3000 abortions a year I believe.

Who says the reasons are because they are unhappy with the consequences of their actions?
That might be the reason for some but definitely not for all.

Whatā€™s wrong with giving people a choice?

Itā€™s murder.

That is what is wrong.

Youā€™re engaging with a total fruitcake.

Youā€™d be better off ignoring him.

Whats wrong with giving men a choice then?

I agree abortion is necessary at times due to various things and I think everyone would agree its a horrible event fullstop.
But where is the equality for young men if weā€™re going to go down that road. Theyā€™re persecuted for their whole lives fairly often and dont have the option of abortion.

Equality has to go both ways.

I dont think anyone is against abortion in cases of fatal foetal or when the danger to a mother exists. But the majority seem to be against abortion on demand. Is just implementing the amendment already in existence not the answer?

Certainly not.

If a motherā€™s life is in danger then medical intervention should be sought. This is not what we are voting on though. And thatā€™s what athiest nutters like @anon7035031 canā€™t understand, too consumed in their hatred of those with faith that it clouds their judgement.

FFA is not in the current amendment. Also, the way the current amendment is means that the womanā€™s life has to be in danger before being granted an abortion, not potentially in danger but actually progressed to a stage of danger. Serious illness to women may not be treated properly under current legislation if the woman is pregnant.

The current amendment is not safe for wanted pregnancies, never mind unwanted ones.

What you are voting on is removing an amendment in the constitution which grants the same rights to a zygote/embryo/fetus as a adult woman. This is an insane situation which exists in no other countries except the some Muslim majority countries.

Nobody is for killing babies you absolute neanderthal. Personally I am actually opposed to abortion, but I do not feel I have the right to dictate to women whether they should carry an unwanted pregnancy to term. Your fruitcake opinion is based on the good old days when men could control women.

Thanks for admitting that your opinions are based on your faith, at least you are honest unlike others. You should also admit the history you ā€œfaithā€ has in the treatment of women in society in Ireland. Itā€™s a disgusting legacy and one any right minded person would be ashamed of and distance themselves from.

ā€¦ and Iā€™m not an atheist.

Nihilist?

Pantheist.

Ahā€¦I seeā€¦ Jedi basically.

Whatā€™s your point?
