Just joined the Prime Time debate and the ânoâ campaign lady has referred to that farcical David Quinn 18,000 GPs / GPS locations guff in response to the âyesâ lady saying that 1,300 GPs supporting repeal is the majority. The other lady said thatâs barely 5% of the GPs in the country and 95% are therefore against it. It wasnât picked up and rebuked by either David McCullagh or the âyesâ lady.
My wife is a GP and is voting Yes. She tells me that a lot of her colleagues are largely divided on the issue however.
Our daughter is not a GP and is voting no. The conversations between them have been interesting of late. The greater zeal is coming from the young lady.
My better half is a GP and is voting yes. Most of her friends/fellow GPs are voting yes with 2 exceptions. I laughed when your one on Prime Time came out with that line that basically insinuated that if a doctor hadnât publically came out for yes they were a no supporter
It makes a GPs life very easy indeed Iâd they can refer to the abortion clinic and wash their hands of any minor issue or complication.
Grotesque scenes from an abortion clinic in Bergen Norway on RTE1. Tour of where woman are put on a gurney and all implements used. Reminded me of Trevor McDonalds documentary of death row in an Indiana penitentiary
Youâre right - by not exporting the problem away from Ireland to the UK or expecting women to carry out non medically supervised abortions using pills - GPs will make life easier for themselves.
You turnip.
Why do you guys always revert to the name calling and abuse?
Maybe ye should carry on this conversation in the DIY thread
Dealing with lies in referendum campaign live debates is like playing a whack-a-mole.
Unless a moderator is absolutely dogged in pursuing every single âfactâ that is advanced and looks for proof there and then - and moderators wonât do that as it will disrupt the flow of a debate - the No side can come up with new lies each time and can pretty much get away with making up anything they want.
They can only be proved wrong later, generally on Twitter - and by then itâs too late, the lie has already delivered on its purpose.
Agreed.
How exactly does that make a GPâs life very easy?
I wasnât aware a pdc darts player was going to be made a sex slave as a result of this new law. Iâm voting no after hearing that.
If youâre going to come out with complete shit like this, basically implying that another posterâs wife is planning to abort babies because sheâs too lazy to do her job properly, then itâs inevitable that people are going to fire back.
Did he hurt your feelings when he called you a turnip?
I was only half watching and could have taken it up wromg but did they state on prime time that you could in fact test for downs syndrome at 10 weeks with 95% certainty? Quoting Rhona Mahoney or whatever her name is. Disaster for us on the repeal side if true because correct me if im wrong but has the narrative not been that you cant for thd last several weeks!
Har di har har.
Itâs true. As Iâve said from the off, the Yes side are all about abdication of accountability and responsibility.
Nuchal fold scan can be done at 11 weeks and is 75% accurate. A measurement taken with ultrasound.
We had that scan done by our privately paid doctor on our daughter who has Down syndrome and he didnât pick anything up. It was done further on from 10 weeks too.
Who on here who have kids have had a scan done on their kids before 12 weeks as a matter of interest? Iâve been through 3 pregnancies and first scans were done at 14, 13 and 14 weeks respectively.
Itâs just his latest spam sound bite, once he gets going it can be relentless, the stupid cunt.
It was done at 12 weeks for my kids. Iâd say the 12 weeks is just standard practice, privately you can get scans at any stage if you pay for them.
