Yes, many women would have been aborted as unborn babies if the 8th had not been in place. Saving lives is paramount and repealing the 8th will mean thousands of children are denied the right to live.
No surprise here from Waters. What can you expect from a pig only a grunt, although thatâs probably unfair on pigs to group them with himâŚ
Waters is some clown
Itâs sad, Waters is very talented. He sounds just finished as a contributor to Irish society and basically as a man too. He was going relatively well until he just completely spazzes out.
Huh?
The anecdote at the start of this I think captures a lot of the uncertain middle ground, particularly among men. Donât like abortion but havenât really thought through the consequences or real world implications. Hope it would just all go away.
Iâm nearly sorry to keep this thread alive at this stage, but you might remember that during the Claire Byrne debate Maria Steen (and afew members of the audience also) said that the proposed bill allowed for abortion up to 6 months on grounds of risk to mental health. She then said this would lead to a UK-style regime.
At the time I dismissed this as probably a lie because I donât trust the Irish conservative movement and Maria Steen especially (wiley old fox that I am). However, truthfully Steen had unnerved me slightly because I would oppose a UK type regime.
I read through the proposed Bill just there. The words âmental healthâ donât appear anywhere. Steen was just lying.
Read for yourselves, itâs short enough.
I want to abort this thread but weâre getting so close to the delivery date.
The new legislation will allow you to abort children up to 2 years of age.
That doesnât cover John Waters. Youâd need legislation to allow abortion of children up to 63 years of age in that case.
The thread jumped the shark again with talk of aborting healthy babies at 8 and a half months, what the fuck is wrong with people. This is TFK at itâs worst even if it does provide some entertainment.
Mehhhh, not too obscure, think murdering unborn babies is a tad worse.
And some posters have openly supported clare daly!!
I think youâre getting a little hung up on what Clare Daly thinks. Her opinion will not have a binding effect on legislation if the 8th is repealed.
Well thereâs one way to guarantee that!
I think if voting was mandatory it wouldnât pass, as the poll hbv put up shows. But many undecideds just wont bother voting, itâll be very tight or yes will squeeze home. Canât be more on the fence than that.
