Watch them avoid providing that stat.
What stat?
A very quick google suggests one in 20 rapes end in pregnancy, 90 cases recorded in 2011, Iād say you could find it yourself
Babies that are a result of rape, and abortions that result in rape.
While youāre at it babies of 12 year olds as a result of rape, a scenario you introduced.
I donāt know the exact numbers but it happens. Why do you want to know the exact numbers?
Do you think rape victims should be forced to go full term and give birth?
Quelle surprise. The rape trial goes into recess to consider itās jury and all of a sudden Nancy Drew and the Hardy boys have suddenly turned into Ruth Coppinger and David Quinn.
Whatās the point here dodgy? If itās only 3 or 4 rape victims every few years say is that grand?
90 a year is the only figure so far, thatās quite a few really
You introduced it so Iād be interested to know if itās a real issue and not just a make believe issue that baby murder supporters like yourself pull out of your arse
So we murder thousands a year to justify 3 or 4*
*pulled out of your arse
What the fuck are you babbling on about now?
What did I introduce? Can you read English properly you slavering moron?
If you donāt think rape victims get pregnant Google āx caseā.
And answer the question. Do you think rape victims should be forced to go full term and give birth?
I reckon Im one of the hundreds of thousands of people in this country who is caught right bang in the middle on this one.
As a father of two girls I am very conscious of what a yes or a no vote will mean for them in the future.
Therefore I am not against the repeal of the eight per say. What makes me extremely u comfortable is the proposed legislation to replace it, specifically the unrestricted access up to twelve weeks.
To clarify, yes I firmly believe that in cases such as faa, rape and incest, it should indeed be the womanās choice. Her body has been invaded against her will and by all means she has every right to get image if she so wishes. In terms of faa, this is the most heart breaking of the three. A baby is obviously wanted and due to whatever condition it has developed, it has little or no chance of survival. Again with every piece of medical advice made available to her she should or indeed the couple should have freedom of choice in this instance once all the available information has been communicated. I donāt think k any reasonable minded person would have an issue in the circumstances described above. Again there are probably a few more circumstances that could be brought in an legislated for.
In terms of the twelve weeks, my concerns are around a number of different areas.
This country has a history of taking things to the limit and beyond.
Sheās 20 weeks pregnant and all is good.
āAh shur come on in. Weāll put you down as ten weeks and no-one will know the differenceā
Donāt anyone suggest that this wonāt happen because I guarantee you it will.
At the risk of sound like an old fart, has the father any rights in this. Itās not like an unwanted pregnancy is the result of her having IVF, getting pregnant and deciding she does want it.
So there is a father involved here somewhere. Is it right if she decides she wants the child, she gets to keep it and he gets stuck with the maintenance? What if he wants to keep it and rare it? Should here have no say. And no I donāt buy the āshe has to carry it for nine months and put her body through hellā line. It never and will never wash with me.The ability to
Give birth is nothing short of miraculous and should never be taken for granted.
So in short, there are a number of different circumstances to which a woman should absolutely be given a choice. But certainly not a la carte up to twelve weeks.
If it was restricted to the three circumstances I highlighted ( and as I said there are probably a few more that would be acceptable ) then I would have no problem ticking the yes box . Unfortunately the choice afforded to me gives me no option but to retain it until acceptable legislation is put in front of me.
The āI have two daughtersā intro was an odd way to start a post which essentially argued that you couldnāt trust them with a choice in the future.
Continuing the way we are is not acceptable.
No, heās actually them to make the choices so they donāt end up with a crisis pregnancy.
Disappointed you would think thatās what Iām saying
I agree whole heartedly Matty. Iām just saying the alternative is not acceptable to me, thus leaving me with no choice
I disagree with your conclusion but I can see why you have misgivings / concerns.
Ah yea,
Look Iām not going g to lambaste anyone for having a different opinion than I have. Like I said before I have just as much of an issue with David Quinn telling me Iāll burn in hell if I vote yes as I do with Ruth Coppinger telling me that abortion should be free and available under any circumstance at any stage if the pregnancy
And as you said yourself they can always pop over to England anyway.
