Abortion Referendum Thread

What’s not acceptable about it. What’s informing your opinion. Religion? Personal relationships? Your values? Whats informing them? Millions of kids die every year throughout the word due to poverty war disease etc. Up to very recently dead babies were a fact of life in this country for a variety of reasons. People just got on with it and had more. If someone you have met has an abortion after 12 weeks what impact does it have on you? Do you think it reflects on you in some way/ make them an evil person?

I don’t agree with every word, you’re obviously struggling to work out humane solutions to unsolvable problems and find a way to articulate them. That’s about as much as any honest person can do.
There are no easy answers yet those who shout the loudest and clearest proclaim there’s is the only way.
I don’t have the opportunity to vote on the subject, I can’t say I’m not glad.

I’m not sure how else to construe it. You don’t trust women outside of a very limited set of circumstances to make that choice. You’d prefer to make it (or limit it) for them.

What are you ranting and raving about?
Yea if someone I meet has an abortion after 12 weeks, damn right I have an issue with it and I should have every right to have an issue with. What if someone I meet decides to keep it and decide I was to have no act nor part in the rearing of the child bar forking out maintenance. Should that be her choice just because she’s carrying the child?
And what the fuck does religion have to do with it? Just because I am a person if faith does not mean it has to influence my decision. I am sure there are plenty of “religious” people out there who have the polar opposite view to me as is there right. If you want to ha e reasonable debate, have one but don’t go ramming shot down my throat because I don’t have the same opinion as hou6

Just because bad stuff happens every day or people on the other side of the world are dying through whatever atrocity doesn’t mean you just say fuck it to everything else or any moral issues that arise. People care about the unborn and the consequences of abortion on demand. To dismiss it just because people are dying through other circumstances is nonsensical. Why would we bother with any laws or discussion, sure Dregistan has just been bombed by the Russkies, Jesus wept.

Hi guys…this thread is about repealing the 8th…there’s an abortion thread for talk on abortion.

Tell me what’s very limited about “unrestricted access up to twelve weeks”?

A woman doesn’t have this right and if needs be a person can go to court for access rights. Why do you think this happens? Why do you think it’s relevant?

You’re very naive if you think it’s not happening

Nonsense. Any man in that situation can go to court and have his rights vindicated. What does it have to do with anything?

In theory

There’s nothing limited in that - it trusts that each women (and their partner as appropriate) weighs up their unique circumstances and makes a considered decision.

My reference to limited was your preference to deny that choice to your fellow citizens and instead mandate that only in very specific instances I.e rape etc that you would be comfortable with their descision.

I tell you glas. It’s happening every day of the week. You should listen to Sean ORourke the odd time when they send a reporter to the family courts. It’s scary shit

Why is it relevant? Are the courts not upholding their rights?

Correct. That’s my view. Rightly or wrongly. That’s why we have laws in this country.
It’s a bit like saying we should legalise drink driving up to about 14 pints and shur if you kill someone on the way home, you’re grand

It really isn’t like that at all. Drink driving impacts upon others in a way that abortion doesn’t as you well know.

Perhaps you should ask Ms. Angle, who was the person who suggested it?

Pat has another headbanger on here, slightly more capable

Who was this? Terence Flanagan?

you introduced the scenario of 12 year olds rape victims becoming pregnant
