Abortion - Yay or Nay? Labane and Sid talk American politics, Codegreen ponders on the cost

Itā€™s not going to happen, the only ones who believe Roe v Wade will be overturned are the same people who want no restrictions on abortions, they are as extreme as those who want an outright ban.

Calm down there before you have a stroke :joy:

The same people said Trump could never win.

You have zero understanding of the US and constantly embarrass yourself here and elsewhere.

The views on abortion in the US are as diverse as in any other developed country, a significant majority want abortion legal in most circumstances up to a time limit and want restrictions beyond that time limit. Just like in Europe, where laws vary from country to country on restrictions, local state laws in the US vary as well. Itā€™s not that hard to grasp.

Seccession is illegal my friend, unfortunately. The case of Texas V White in 1869 was the last of it. The supreme court has taken the view from the constitution that the Union is indestructible.

Correct, because they have very little grasp of reality and in their arrogance assume their extremist views are shared by others. The reality is most people are not extremists.

This is seen as an attack front and centre on women removing a right they believed to be settled and those battle lines are getting deeper. Imagine the reaction if Muslim majority States existed and imposed these kinds of bans.

The US is in the top 4% of countries with the most permissive abortion laws, only 7 countries allow elective abortion after 20 weeks. 75% of countries do not allow elective abortion after 12 weeks. The recent legislation in Ireland is in common with most developed countries, not with the US. Yet ā€œprogressivesā€ believe abortion in the US is too restrictive and there should be no restrictions.

They have not sought to move back rules for late term abortions where those rules already exist and differ in States. They have sought to effectively ban abortion and have done it deliberately to provoke the response that is now being acted out with battle lines very firmly drawn.

How much is an abortion these days? In say Washington,?

As always, youā€™re projection central.

I donā€™t take seriously anybody who gets their ā€œunderstandingā€ of what Republican crazies want to do to abortion laws from polls, thanks.

Only a simpleton would quote a poll.

You didnt respond to my point on Citizens United because it blew a coach and horses through your little ā€œpointā€.

Youā€™ve consistently demonstrated your total lack of knowledge of anything to do with US politics and consistently misread situations, so much so that it would be reasonable to think that youā€™ve actually been stuck in a hovel somewhere in Gort for the last five years drinking on your own with a red hat on you for the last three.

So we can all completely discount anything you have to say - itā€™s worthless.

Saving this for the future.

Ah hereā€¦ Whatever about labane you literally are holed up in galway drinking on your own spouting shite about American politics day in day out on the internetā€¦ only difference is youre wearing a blue hat. Have you any self awareness at all!!

Yes, but the late term laws are in the most progressive states like New York, and the strict restrictions are in bible belt states. I agree battle lines are being drawn, but the hope is that moderates will hold sway.

You should stop using the word ā€œweā€ as nobody on here agrees with your extreme views, except perhaps @glasagusban. Also, try and stick to the topic, this is the abortion thread.

Do you believe there should be any limits on abortion?
What time limit for elective abortion do you support?

No idea mate. Iā€™m sure you can find it on line if youā€™re sufficiently interested.

Iā€™m very self aware.

I donā€™t tolerate bullshit and I donā€™t tolerate bullshitters.

Unlike the alco who couldnā€™t even find an open pub, I only drink occasionally and Iā€™m not holed up in a rural boghole pretending to be in the US.

Yet my knowledge is demonstrably superior than the simpleton who comes from Clare but thinks heā€™s from Galway who thinks heā€™s a ā€œcentristā€ but is a far right white supremacist extremist.

Thank fuck for this. It might keep him away from the general population for a while

@Sidney Calm yourself, you always have a need to lash out irrationally when someones opinion differs to your own. Take a time out, breath.
