AI SHC Semi-Final Killkenny v Tipperary

Good old fashioned hurling there, plenty of ball played along the ground and overhead striking. Enjoyable to watch actually, it’s a different game to what we see today.

There were about 20 non players in the middle of the pitch as the ball was thrown in to start the game, a few priests and that. They were making mad scrambles then to get off the pitch and to safety.

Was that the norm back then at throw in?

that was a strong period in munster hurling, Clare had a very good side, limerick were good, COrk and the Waterford side were not bad…Tipp were poorish, but emerging

I’m still outraged Chewie and I was even more outraged when one of the cunts threw a hurl at Malachy Travers in Wexford Park as well. I’ll keep bringing it up, even if the Tipp cunts hypocrisy won’t. Its a vile, cowardly act.

Hennessey has been dogged with injuries for the past 18 months and only started back playing for his club this summer after missing most of last year and the spring. I would think it would be half back or nowhere for him, he is quite flat footed

no its not. its not dangerous, its just players trying a last gasp effort to put off an attacker, or in the case of Darren Stamp (or maybe Rossi, cant quite remember) in the league semi final against Galway a few years back, he pulled off an excellent hook by throwing the hurl and it hooked the Galways players hurl. Same as if he had to have been beside him and hooked him.

But its right that it shouldnt happen, and a yellow card is a just action. But there is no need to go over the top on it, just like there was no need to be going over the top about it a couple of years back when Walsh did it.

Twas Declan Ruth. Thrown hurley is a great skill when executed properly. Damien Hayes was through on goal and Skippy hooked Hayes swing perfectly, took the yellow and the free which was popped over. Wexford went on to win and got hammered by KK in the semi.

‘I’ll keep bringing it up’. Australia’s answer to Paul Kimmage.
Vile. FFS

I think people are getting fairly carried away with the handbags that went on during this game. Maher should have seen red for numerous different offenses but the rest was harmless enough.

who hit corbett through the face guard and nearly took his eye out?

The guardian angel Jackie.

Pa Bourke

Think the nick under his eye was from when Tyrell was pulling at his faceguard

he was millimeters away from losing an eye

Tyrell tried to scape his eye out, the intent was very clear his tear ducts are fucked for ever more,

The memories…

Wasn’t there a user on Clarehurlers at the time by the name of ‘Eyeball Quinn’ http://cp12-eu.stablehost.com/~thefreek/board/public/style_emoticons/default/laugh.png

The cut he had looked to be a good bit away from his eye. But eye injuries are nothing to be laughed at. Bandage told the story on here once how a serious eye injury ruined his promising hurling career - i believe he gave an exibition in a county final a few years previous scoring all his teams points

i think if the more fair minded KK supporters, like arrigle were on here. he’d have no problem in calling for a 12 mth ban on Tyrell for eye-gouging and nearly blinding Lar

yes  we know who that was, that was so bizarre. arrigle a prime time hurling post on the irish times, then spends mon-fri viciously engaed with notables such as eye ball quin and mikey kellys assasin

Has Richie Hogan been made to answer for nearly blinding Damien Hayes yet?
