Squeaky bum time for the Wexicans.
3-0 Drogheda now!
Wexford have scored! 3-1 on the night, 3-3 on aggregate. 6 mins left at United Park.
was there a goal disallowed
3-0 on livscore
It was disallowed, unreal drama
@DroghedaUnited: 83’ Wexford have a goal disallowed after McGuinness is fouled . Inexplicably, ref appeared to give it initially. Astonishing. 3-0
Farragher cleared one off the line in the 94th minute as Wexford pressed , it’s finished 3-0. Drogheda are back up and Wexford are down. My thoughts are with FOTF Mick Wallace at this difficult time.
Up yer hoop Mick Wallace you prick.
My updates were on the degenerate gambler thread. My word, Wexford made some mess of that but it seemed a dodgy penalty award. The miss at the end was unbelievable.
Wexford gave Drogheda too much lee-way and will have to take this one on the chin.
I’m sure I remember Galway United playing Drogheda in a relegation play-off some time in the 00s and losing 3-0 in the second leg after winning the first 2-0*.
Now former Wexford manager Shane Keegan has a similar rich tradition of fucking things up to tap into as he moves here.
*Edit: It did happen. February 2003. Promotion/relegation play-off.
well done @Bandage, great stuff
what was it like to actually attend a soccer match for the first time?
its a lot better than putting on a scottich accent in front of the TV isnt it?
united park looks a bit shook
, that club nearly beat Dynamo kiev in the 2008 CL qualifiers but have falllen on pretty hard times, drogheda were the celtic tiger LOI poster boys, winnning cups, leagues , setanta cups with another Gartland at the back, Stewie Byrne in midfield and Gadaffi Zayed up front, themselves cork, shels and derry all fell apart at the same time with winding up orders and what not
i remember been at the 2005 FAI cup final , id say you had 30k Lansdowne Road, shels had a galactico style side , cork had won the league and the summer football had us booming, the collapse from 2008 was dramatic and wasnt what we thought would happen…
League still isnt in a good place
take cork and dundalk out of it and the gulf is huge,
4 months off now, all the players sign on the dole
Dundalk could be relegated next year , thats how unpedicatable the thing is
i played in one in 2003 against Drogheda
you know fucking nothing
that’s your problem right there
What’s the story here Mickee?
I’ve previously seen my beloved Youths defeat Sporting Fingal in Morton Stadium and endure a tense stalemate against Kildare County, pal. We haven’t played either in a while though.
and a 3-3 draw thrown in there with Dublin City no doubt
Great to see bandage at real grassroots . Supporting a corporate behemoth in Glasgow with no community base not good .
In many way the LOI was a microsm for Ireland Inc. Highly leveraged , in hock to developers , on sand. Bohs , Drogs , Shels , Pats all won titles on this basis . Cork ditto by paying unsustainable wages , bad loans and paying no creditors. Traditional clubs like Waterford , Limerick , Athlone were all grossly mismanaged and interest waned. The FAI were utterly negligent in regulating clubs. Derry too engaged in all sorts of skullduggery .
Nobody remembers the losers of promotion/relegation play-off semi-finals, mate.
I saw Carlton Palmer play for Dublin City.
Derry were up to shocking stuff with those contracts, it was modelled on Glasgow Rangers, the exact same type of messing
Bohs threw all their lot in with selling Dalynount and moving out to Cabra
there is a great book just published id say you appreciate
“second city”, launched tonight in Cork, written by Neal Horgan who played left full charters the demise and rise of cork post the 2008 high court order
his first effort "death of a football club@ was also decent
now, i dont have too much time for that FORAS crowd and Jonathan O Brien BUT , they do love the club
its a very very good read
