I’m just providing the updates as they come on this massive story for Irish football.
great news
I love the way the League of Ireland and Scottish Premier Divisions have constantly changed between 10 and 12 teams over the last few decades.
10 teams, 12 teams, 10 teams, 12 teams.
And every time they change the amount of teams, some bullshit is made up about how it’s going to improve the standard, when it makes no fucking difference whatsoever.
I guess administrators need to justify their existence, though.
they play each other too many times
But then you’d have to increase the league to 20 teams rather than lower it from 12 to 10, which means an extra game against the other teams.
Which would mean no relegation.
The current format of the LOI is grand.
That’s Finn, Horgan, Boyle, Meenan all gone from Dundalk and only Hoare signed. Not that many top players left. If nothing else, their depth has taken a battering.
You’d have to make Cork favourites for the league at this stage… the vast majority of their top players re-signed as well as a couple of decent additions.
Talks of Bray being contenders are a bit premature- Buckley, Greene and McCabe are decent players but they still wouldn’t have the quality of Dundalk, Cork, Rovers, even Pats & Derry on their day.
Rovers have strengthened… Connolly, Meenan and Finn in particular are very good signings. No major players lost, Cregg the best of them probably. Still lack a striker and serious question marks over Bradley as a manager.
3 teams down next year?
Limerick fucked
Cork are going to beat Drogheda 15 nil.
Its all gone tits up for Brandon.
That seems excessive in light of the evidence given
The rugby lads would just cover it up
