Albums you’ve listened to most

Whats a starter album? Only ever heard that song in Shrek

Start from the start. Songs of Leonard Cohen.

Songs of Love and Hate and New Skin for Old Ceremony are good ones too. I’m Your Man from the later stuff maybe

He’s one of those you’d also nearly recommend starting with a best of. But yeah, Songs of is the best place to start

Songs from a Room would be my favorite and a great place to start. The Greatest Hits album from the 70s would be a good starter as well. Gas the way he became fashionable in the 90s. Lads like Meself were panned for listening to him in the 70s and 80s. I had a passionate love affair back in the day with a lady who also appreciated his songs.

We’re going off topic here… But I’ve started listening to a bit of Roxy Music lately… Any love affairs here? What’s your favourite Roxy album?

First side of the 1972 debut album Roxy Music. First side is generally credited to Ferry, the second to Eno. First side I listen to all the time, rarely listened to the second side. Lady in question did not like Bryan Ferry at all. Got annoyed at the sight of him gurning away. I could respect her opinion.

I would have had you at a very high level of taste, so was surprised at 1 & 2.
No 3 definitely makes it.
I just can’t stand Van Morrison.

Astral Weeks is sublime

I had a copy but it was stolen when my flat was rifled years ago and I never replaced it. I think Into the Mystic from the next album is his best song.

I listened to Madame George a couple of weeks back. You could listen to that voice forever.

In my younger days I listened to the “Joshua Tree” non stop for a while

Soundgarden Superunknown
The first five Metallica albums, I think I learned almost every riff and song on the guitar.

Veedon Fleece is sublime album. Really experimental and got panned by critics and he may have been an asshole ever since. I by no means like all of his music, not even close but I can put together a playlist of a dozen bangers.

I go back to London calling every few years and it gets even better every time. Was listening last night - it’s sublime still.
