Eh, what actually happened was Ferguson allowed the best midfielder in the world walk away for nothing for one of the following factors:
- Misjudgement of his ability and potential
- Stubborness
Either way United are stuck with a load of diddies in midfield so much so that reports say they will break the world transfer record to bring back the guy Ferguson let go for nothing.

The fact is you’ve been stuck with Big Bird, Carrick, nancy boy Herrera, etc etc in midfield for the past few years while Pogba has proven himself to be world class. That is the effects of Ferguson’s handling of Pogba.

Pogba wasn’t world class at the time. He was a raw 17/18/19 year old with a lot of potential. United were going for the title - if Pogba had been thrown in at the deep end and united blown the title Fergie would have been slaughtered. How many players of that age have run the show at top clubs anywhere? In all fairness Fergie gave countless youngsters a chance over the years - he rated Pogba, told him he’d a future at the club if he stayed and was patient. Pogba and his agent decided to dismiss that advice.
Anyway I’m not commenting any more on this thread as it is descending into “was Declan Browne a top class footballer” levels of entrenchment.
Things have worked brilliantly for Pogba.
