All England Lawn Tennis Championship 2014

Rosol is 2 sets to 1 up.

Nadal takes the second set, 6-3. Heā€™s being troubled here, grass courts are the most service reliant surface and Rafaā€™s top sin serve doesnā€™t have the same effect as it does on clay and hard courts.

Nadal needs time to improve on the grass.
He might not get it

Klizan looks fucked here so Iā€™d expect Nadal or progress through from here without much hassle. Rosol is a big ask up next, when the court is soft like grass courts play in the early stages it takes away from Nadalā€™s game.

Murray and Djokovic advanced today, Murray in straight sets while Djokovic dropped one to Stepanek. Ferrer and Gulbis were the two big seeds to fall, Tsonga is currently 2-1 down in sets to Sam Querry, this would really ease things for Djokovic if Tsonga goes as he can be a formidable opponent on grass when he is on form and they were slated to play in the last 16.

Djokovic was very lethargic for long stretches of the match against Stepanek. Confidence canā€™t be great after losing 5 of his last 6 Grand Slam Finals. Looks like a man that could do with a lay off. I wouldnā€™t be surprised at all if he was beaten well before a putative semi final with the defending champion.

Berdych had a good win as well yesterday over the tricky Bernard Tomic after dropping the first set.

Rosol takes the first set 6-4

Rosol breaks to love in Game 5 to go 3-2 up in the 2nd set.

Nadal breaks back for 4-4. Tide may well have turned. Nadal making him work a lot harder last 3 games and signs that Rosol is running out of steam. He had it far too easy first set and a half.

tie break in the second Rosol is hanging in there.

set point Rosol, Nadal to serve

6-6 in the tie break

Set point Nadal now.

What a time for a double fault from Rosol? :frowning: 1 set each now.

Rosol double faults to hand Nadal the tie break and the 2nd set.

Nadal has been pulled up for his gamesmanship and has received a warning from the umpire for slow play. Nadal is averaging 25 seconds between service points to Rosolā€™s 17. 20 seconds is whatā€™s permitted. Its very noticeable that Rosol is losing his rhythm more and more in the face of the increasing levels of arse picking and toweling down between points.

Very bitter post.

This is a huge game for Nadal, Rosol holds all the aces on these conditions but Nadal has that warrior mentality that gets him through positions where he is being batter. Unbelievable mental strength. Rosol is the favourite still.

Iā€™m telling it as it is. Iā€™m watching the match live here and Nadal has received a warning from the umpire for slow play. Slow play is about the worst form of gamesmanship there is in tennis. Nadal is the master of gamesmanship.

Your posts are consumed by bitterness. McEnroe has said that it is not gamesmanship and that it is do with his OCD and Iā€™ll trust his words over you.

Youā€™re bullshiting now in a seriuos way. Rosol is a 28 year old journeyman whoā€™s failed to make it past the qualifying rounds in 18 Grand Slams. This is only Rosolā€™s 13th appearance in a Grand Slam and 3rd at the Championship. He failed to qualify for the Championship in the 5 years prior to beating Nadal on debut in 2012. Rosol was beaten in the 1st round of last yearā€™s championship and his 3rd round exit in 2012 represents his best ever Grand Slam performance.

Am listening on the radio, Manuel what happened there at the end of the set, they were saying Nadal went for an extra long comfort break?
