I thought the bit about him trying to use his swing with UEFA to get the Scottish lad into a spot of bother and the subsequent pettiness and unprofessionalism Delaney showed by sitting him off in a corner at an official meeting was a great way of showing how Delaney was so ruthless with those that didn’t sing from the same hymn sheet as him.
That was all they needed from him really but they obviously recorded more with him when they did interview him and opted not to leave it on the floor of the editing studio.
Would have loved to have a bit with McCarthy about his dealings with him.
Lookit, if the club wanted more grants, they just had to apply for fencing and the like, and John would not only get them a grant, he’d even put them in touch with the contractor iirc.
The only local the John Delaney was interested in supporting was all of those that resided between the top of his head and tips of his toes.
What’s worse is that he must have known that the writing would be on the wall after Hickey got found out. It’s like when a gambler gets into way too much debt and is hoping for a miracle to come so they can balance the books.
But the Scottish guy was just some random bloke with a random story. He most probably did act the bollix in the first place with the tickets. I was confused by what he said. Ireland didn’t receive any more tickets yet they were playing the match in a bigger stadium. He mentioned something about 5% of capacity being still in play but that seems bad form to me.
There was more than enough other stuff than giving airtime to an unsubstantiated story by what is most likely another prick of a national football administrator.
