That would have been a classic final if it was in front of a crowd of 82k baying fans.Mayo conceding the early goal, coming back to go ahead, the row at ht.DOC turning over the Dublin player on the sideline, going into the water break only a point down.Still wouldnât have won butâŚwhat if
Itâs all about the conditioning lads, when was the last time you saw Dublin hit an unbelievable point from an impossible angle under serious pressure?
It was probably 2014 against Donegal when Connolly and Flynn hit some unbelievable scores in the first half. Ever since that humiliation they donât take shots on with an element of risk, they just use their superior conditioning to retain possession until such time as they have have a relatively simple shot to tap it over or try and go for goal.
I dont know conal keaneys situation but he made the jump.
Was he dropped from the footballers or something?
Yes.
Keaney was falling off the Dublin panel once they started to get good.
They know if itâs close that theyâll eventually grind teams down in the last 15.Sign of a great team.Carr and Coen tried a few hail Maryâs in comparison which were never goin to come off.
No ambition. Youâd do it to truly test yourself. This is no test.
He left in 2010 . He didnât play well in semi v Cork when Dublin gassed badly in last 15 minutes . That hasnât happened since
Itâs the same as lads saying in the 00âs that Kilkenny could field 2 teams. And win an AI
Thatâs it. Dublin know they have that edge on teams that when it comes to making the hard yards. If they get ahead they can keep the ball, theyâve got that extra 20% in them and they will wear teams down physically and thatâs when mistakes are made and when more mistakes are made then heads drop. You could see it with Mayo in that last 15/20 minutes. Was 6 points the max lead Dublin had in the game?
Itâs still salvageable in the last 10 of a game but not against Dublin as they just have you then.
Ideally what need is two different counties to play Dublin in each half.
Kerry v Dublin in the first half, Donegal v Dublin in the second half.
Dublin v Tyrone in the first half, Dublin v Mayo in the second half.
Then you will have a leveller in conditioning.
Thatâs what the money buys you,not skill or bravery or heart but conditioning for the last 10 or 15 minutes of a tight game.
Precisely. And it buys you 15 lads on the squad to do the same when they get called upon. Dublin are the wheel and the wheel will turn and crush all in front of it.
And to be fair Dublin are not to blame here. The Gaa and county boards up and down the country are for allowing it to happen.
Eh sure.
If the Gaa offered Laois bags of money tomorrow theyâd grad it with both hands
What?
Raised on songs and storiesâŚ
Fellas who are drunk shouldnât ask other fellas if theyâre drunk. It can lead to a viscous circle
I think thatâs unfair. They are part of the greatest football team ever. For these lads, its about cementing their legacy.
vicious
Imagine the legacy if they won one in the hurling? Instant
