Itās the bench that provides their most profound advantage. They brought on Brian Howard and Paul Mannion early in the second half on Saturday. Both were All Stars in 2019. Howard in particular had a huge influence on the game when he came on. Mayo had no impact off the bench.
Surprised that there isnāt any movement to reducing the number of subs. Weāve seen it in the EPL in recent weeks, Coach Ole, Guardiola, Lampard and Klopp all agitating to widen the gap between the Big 4 and the rest by increasing the number of substitutes to 5. The smaller clubs not standing for it.
GAA need to reduce the number of subs as a matter of priority.

Youāre dead right but Iād say one reason is across all levels it gives more of a chance to give fellas āa runā. āGetting a runā is the lifeblood of the association and keeps loads of fellas involved who might give up.

Mannion was off form all year. Howard was struggling with a back injury I believe

Howard came back from lockdown a stone overweight.
Dessie didnāt really want to, but was forced to use him to win it.
Donāt get me wrong, I think Howard is and will be a hall of famer but just the way it worked out for him this year

Howard is different gravy,controlled the game when he came on ā¦i expected him in centre back for this year and the next 6 but Small has really stepped upā¦

His step is incredible.
I think McDaid will get the bullet and heāll end up half back somewhere.
His display in the second half of the 2019 final when down to 14 men is one of the greatest of all time.

But since then itās the champions ā invariably, the Dubs ā that have got the breaks on the big calls in the big games, Fitzsimons on Keegan and Cooper on OāShea only the latest in a litany of similar incidents.
