All Ireland Football Final 2020 Dublin v Mayo

Fucked is a bit extreme. There isn’t one other team in Leinster who you would say is on an upward curve who is likely to establish themselves as a division one side over the next five years. They will still be at the business end of the championship even if they struggle to replace those lads.

But but but generational players but but but

Ciaran Archer wouldnt kick snow off a rope

All they need is a free taker, two natural forwards who can score inside the D, a max of two man markers. The rest of the team can be filled with supreme athletes who get up and down the ground and are able to win ball and palm in goals at the far post.

He didn’t last Saturday anyway

They’ll bin him after last Saturday, Mark my words. The wheel turns quickly.

Definitely not fucked. They will always be the best team in the country now and I’d imagine favourites every year for the all Ireland but this current brilliance won’t sustain. As was said before here the current 6 in a row team is the all time great one and have a few years left. They operate in a weak era though. No one near standard of kerry Tyrone in noughties to challenge them. What’s coming for dublin after isn’t nearly as good either. The 2011 and 13 winning team of flynn brogans connolly etc was just a very good team that scraped home after years of failure. That’s a different team to the 6 in a row one.

In 2011 and 2013 the gap in S&C was only starting to crystallise . Remember when Mayo beat them in 2012 , Mayo were hanging on after nearly losing a big lead .

That gap has grown over the years and at this stage is near of making football ability redundant .

The Cork semi final in 2010 is noteworthy as it is the last ever time a Dublin Football team will gas .

I think it’s ridiculous to think the traditionally second most successful football county with a huge population can only win when there’s a gap in s and c. Sometimes they’ll have brilliant players like they have now at their peak. Murchan bugler mcdaid and scully are not brilliant players.

I am not talking about merely winning . We are looking a a team winning 6 in a row without having to raise their game all year and let’s be honest it is hard to see anything changing over the next few years .

The GAA will be left with a headache when the apathy continues and crowds drop . That will be papered over again next year by Covid .

After munster finals Didn’t the great micko used to commiserate with Cork saying they were the best team they played each year

Lovely story but has no relevance for the modern game going forward .

I’ve seen Kerry raise 2m at a dinner in NY
From a handful of donors

Did they exchange bags of cash?

No cash involved but there’s a big reservoir of money in America for Kerry.

The 2 million was raised over 18 months to pay for a training centre .

They raised the guts of it at this

I thought you said they raised 2 million at a dinner?

Every county is free to raise funds, some are better than others. Not every county gets a huge injection from the games governing body at the expense of all others.

Jaysus, the Shinners don’t even pull in that much from their $500 a plate dinners

They did. That report was before the dinner. They raised more. From a handful of lads throwing in 100 and 200k.

They had already raised 4m in years before.

I have not mentioned Dublin at all. Dublin have gone on fundraisers to US as well.
