All Ireland Football Final - An Classico

Aboy Reg

Mad, you’d think An Classico would come through for them.

August will outdo July for wet weather in Kerry with the amount of salty tears that are falling since Sunday evening down there

They will praise him away in public at least like all families.

When the front door is closed…

Jack O’Connor is probably currently up the side of a mountain near St. Finian’s Bay trying to figure it out in his head.

That’s what he did after Tyrone in 2005.

That’s probably what happened Payter

He fell off the mountain (or was pushed) and broke his arm after Cork 2020 if i remember rightly.

He’d wanna watch his back

are you including 2000 and 2022

2000 was soft, FFS playing seamus moynihan at full back a square peg in a round hole, somehow Padraig Joyce still couldnt win the duel and he had 2 matches to do it

now there was a smoking

Fitzsimmons wasnt starting for a year or two I reckon as well

leaving the whole smoking debate aside, he is a super baller and servant of the dubs

Reggie will be hoping no one smokes Shane Conway next Sunday

who will be the crotta o neills version of Mick Fitz?

well maybe the real quality was in div 2 Conor Mackle, it is where Dublin and Derry hung out all year

Tipp bloodline?

he was a cuala senior hurling panel one year

I was on my way in to the parnell park dressing room after a smoking from Lucan in a dublin junior final and he was on his way out with Cuala who lost to Kilmacud in the senior final. he was an unused sub

I think his Mum is from Tipp town, but @peddlerscross will clarify that.

I had a good pal on those Cuala teams. He reckons that MF would have started on those AI teams if he committed to hurling. I’m fairly sure that he originally studied Physiotherapy in 3rd level. Got his degree and then went off to do medicine. Not much free time to play with there if you are an IC player. So much for being a teacher…

Was Gooch’s return in finals against Tyrone not fairly good?

It was. If I recall correctly he scored 0-2 or 0-3 from play in both finals and similar v Armagh in 2002 yet the narrative took hold that he didn’t get a kick. If you watch back the finals he also set up a good bit and was involved in lots of good bits of play too. At least there is a bit of a fight back against that being what people remember about Clifford’s final this time.

Yes his mother grew up in Tipperary Town.

I noticed on tv , a lot of the Dub players interviewed are fairly high achieving in their non football lives as well. Dare I say it, alickadoos. There is a venn diagram there of Leinster rugby fans and Dub GAA fans. Seems a middle class sport now and the antos stick to the soccer?

I think you are getting the meaning of alickadoo wrong. It doesn’t mean middle class and well educated but you are right if you’re saying that’s what most of the dub footballers are.
