Best hurling match I was ever at. I forgot how much McMahon rode Waterford that day. Cork did some number on Mullane from the first whistle in fairness. The commentary from Canning is laughably bad as ever. “The keeper was badly sighted” for Brenner’s brainfart

It’s the helmet thing alright. Joe Deane was a real joy to watch back then. I wonder how he’d fare in the modern game today. Like Noel McGrath he bounced back from testicular cancer. One of the gentlemen of the game.
