Ah he was a great player. Shame he suffered so badly with injuries and that head issue later on. An unreal target man and a great foil for Stevie. He was great on Woolys podcast there recently

A great man to deliver a ball

Tipperary played this whole game in a state of Fright. Galway far more experienced tbf.

Yerman Pat Malone was handy, never heard of him before

Terrified to go down and rise it even. No wonder the extra measures needed to be taken subsequently

Gerry McInerney had a great game too

They should really have won in 1990 and frailty in the full back line after Conor Hayes and Sylvie retired after 1989 probably the biggest reason why they didn’t win that final. Likes of Peter Finnerty, Tony Keady and Martin Naughton even though they were still relatively young had a lot of hurling done by 1990 and went off the boil a bit. They lost Eanna Ryan shortly after the 1990 final to a career ending head injury in a club match, which was a huge loss.

Pure inexperience of big days outside Munster. Aidan Ryan pulling wildly on ball with no one near him.

All seemed to come to Galway so much more naturally. In saying that they struggled here to put a lead on the board.
Paul Delaney was probably Tipp’s most natural hurler on display.

Wtf is on Conor Hayes’ head?

Declan Ryan pulling hard and pulling often.

Pat Fox had some touch but found it hard to get away

Joe Cooney hasn’t done a fucking tap yet

Alot of the pulling here would be deemed reckless nowadays. You certainly needed to know how to protect yourself.

A “fine shoulder” from Ryan there square into the small of Coleman’s (?) back.
