All Ireland Gold or now to be known as old matches on d’tele

Manly leinster hurling

He is one of the good guys. Smashing fella.

Mayo vs Galway 98 now on. Football was a different game then.

That’s sort of like idolising Neil Mellor or Quinton Fortune.

96 Leinster final was on yesterday afternoon. Helping with sanity I have to say

It was his free taking technique.

Some great shots of the patrons in the crowd from both games.

His free taking technique usually went to pot any time the pressure came on.

Ricey had his number in a big way.

Charlie Redmond, now there was a free taking technique. Not a penalty taking technique, mind.

The 1990s was the golden era of free taking techniques.

Get some sunshine ye daft cunts

Roasters paradise in the crowd

The straw hat with the county headband around the base is something that is not much missed from the 1990s.

The klaxons are.

Jim Gavin would be having a conniption seeing some of the 50/50 ball kicked up to the forwards here.

McDonald was very unlucky not to get the 3rd goal

Goalkeeper Burke and Corner back Fergal Costello keeping Mayo in it here. Galway are 10 points better but cant make it show on the scorecard. GAlways marque forwards are not getting it done.

Terrible miss from McDonald

I was at this game. A real nail biter as it was straight knockout. The usual Mayo curse of fucking balls wide cost them, just as it cost them in the previous two AI finals.

Different game now, back then the first instinct was to kick the ball as hard as you could and see how you get on.

Lots of errors with lads kicking possession away cheaply compared to the modern game but tremendously exciting fare all the same.

Eric Cantonas collar up must have been influential at the time.
