All Ireland Hurling Championship 2014

Kilkenny will not win an all-ireland in the next 3 years.
You get the feeling someone bigger and more agressive than Cork could have maybe snookered them alright. But ten on the other hand Halway are a big physical team and Limerick are physical, so maybe not.

Playing it is the main help. It’s worked out for Cork, but there was no great plan there.

Handy AI for KK next year IF they can keep their squad fit.

Big year for Dublin next year to consolidate performances from this year and try and go one step further. They will have to qualify for AI final or it will be regarded as a step back and will Daly hang on much longer.

Munster Championship draw will be interesting - four teams who will feel they can win it. It also means qualifiers draw is very important as to who progresses - need a bit of luck there.

Cork can take the League off and try and find some new players - they probably need four new players. Being in Div 2 means they can just target training for Munster championship. Maybe a first round game with Clare in Cork is what they need.

Kilkenny will probably start as favourites.

The comparisons to Tipp in 2010 probably being a bit overdone with this Clare team. There are some similarities given the prominence of a successful U21 group in that Tipp team as well, but on the whole Tipp actually had a much more mature bunch than Clare have this year.

Cummins, Curran, O’Mahoney, Fanning, Kelly, and Corbett had all been around for a while at that stage and even Shane McGrath and John O’Brien would have done similar stints of service to lads like Bugler and Donnellan who are our elder statesmen. You could argue that part of Tipp’s problem is having headed into Nowlan Park this year still being fairly reliant on a lot of those older lads and having had no ‘new’ player in the team since 2010 that had really made an impact, Bubbles being a possible exception.

I’d be very surprised if Clare have no players being significant figures in the team by 2016. But the reality is that even in the unlikely event that they don’t, lads like David Mc, Conor Ryan, Tony Kelly, and Shane O’Donnell who occupied the central positions on this Clare team will still be significantly younger in playing terms than their Tipp counterparts from 2010.

Hard to know how people react to winning an All Ireland title. History suggests some will fall away as ambition is realised. Kilkenny exception that proves the rule in both codes. People won’t be shocked if Clare fail to win a game next year and bounce back following year.

There’s no doubt about it, this is hurling country! :pint:

You’ve left out the fact that Tipp have notions about themselves and when they finally delivered the big one this went totally off the scale. Clare on the other hand seem to be a very humble and level headed group for such a young lads.

The biggest worry for me is how these lads will handle the fanny that will be thrown at them for the next few months and beyond and what that will take out of them physically. Davy can’t be there with biscuits and miwadi all the time.

I swore to myself as I walked out the gate in Thurles after Clare running rings around us that hell would freeze over before I would spend good money following Galway again…

I cant wait for our first league game 2014

You don’t have to tell us, KP.

I remember looking up at the hill after the final whistle went in the Semi and the Clare lads going mental. Part of me, somewhere deep down inside, was saying fair fucks to them and could only respect it, but the emptiness inside from another disaster showing on our behalf was eating me up inside. I felt like screaming ‘FUCK THIS FUCKING SHIT, NEVER AGAIN’ but then you see young Hannon in bits next to you and think of everything they have given up for us and then go sip on an few beers, regather our thoughts and it’s all next year, next year.

It can’t come fast enough :pint:

Niall Donohue.
Interesting one this, Seen him hurl a couple of times for the club and he was Savage altogether. Never really looks that dominate for Galway but any Galway hurling person I know insist that he should be the Galway fullback

Had a bad run last year, rumors are that Kenny and himself didn’t exactly see eye to eye. I’ll tell you one thing, he is exactly the type of guy you want when the heat gets turned up in a game.

I hope they give him the 3 jersey and tell its his until the year ends.

I heard Kenny caused quiet a few problems alright KP. From what i heard Donohue was told all week prior to the Clare game that he was starting fullback.

If he was causing that level of problems within the team why wasn’t he fucked out???

Yeah… I think a few lads thought they were starting and then BANG the actual team was announced.

He “resigned” since.
