To read someone is to talk about them behind their back ā¦ kinda like a gossiper. Cant keep a secret etc.
Iāve often wondered where the expression came fromā¦ itās rife around Limerick and parts of Clare - not sure where else.
I know back in the day, priests would read your name from the altar if you didnt contribute your dues ā¦ the bastards shaming the poor as usual ā¦ so it was a case of the priest reading you out from the altar ā¦ Iām guessing, but iād say it might stem from there.
Donāt like slating players, but how one player starting is even on the panel is completely beyond me. He doesnāt pick himself so not fair to have a go at players, but so far off the level itās not funny.
