Thereās no real bite to Cork vs Tipp though. The last knockout game between them was 2014 iirc and that was a non-event. The āspiciestā (cc Eddie Brennan) rivalry in Munster at the moment is Limerick - Clare. Thereās a real bitterness there. All thatās missing so far is a good old fashioned melee.

Outside of the first match between the two whipping boys Waterford and Clare, a low on quality match which Clare won by 1 point, the smallest margin of defeat in the other 6 matches was 7 points. Itās got to the stage now where Iād be more inclined to watch an Ulster Football Championship match than another Munster Hurling turkey shoot.
Absolutely. 2013 especially still hasnāt been forgotten. At the same time, oddly, there is huge resentment in Clare that Limerick won the AI last year.

Limerick have struggled with the Cork/Clare tippy tappy style but they will have way too much for Clare today and could win it by 20
Most people in clare were delighted limerick won last year. Weāve won 3 in last few decades so we wouldnāt begrudge them one. The hurt in clare is over losing the semi as a very winnable final awaited
A jaded Galway team skewed perceptions of Clare. They beat Clare out the gate the first half both days but so long on the road didnāt have the energy levels to sustain it. Cork beat Clare handily enough twice last year as well.
Every year Clare go on about revenge for 96. Youād think that 2013 would have sated that. And topped up by 16, 17, 18ā¦
A jaded Galway team who got an 8 point deficit down to one in the last ten mins of the final. Limerick had 11 points to make up on us and despite Delores singing from the heavens apparently they would have folded like a deck chair.
Itās all about styles of hurling.
