All-Ireland Hurling Championship 2019***

Form lines in Leinster have been a bit off but not by much. We should get a good insight into relative standards of both when Kilkenny face Cork this weekend.

What position has Walter Walsh been playing mostly in the matches he has played this year?

I’ve only seen about 10 minutes of KK games and a few highlights but I think he was centre forward last day against Wexford.

Target man.
Cody has reverted to thirteen inside his own 45 whactics.

I presume he will be put on Coleman?

Switching between wing forward and centre forward, if my memory serves me correct.

Teej might tell you. He is the architect of the reinvention of kk hurling.

But it’s more the defence who dictates who’ll mark the attacker, unless you’re Tipp and sending Lar Corbett out to man mark Tommy Walsh.

I’d say Cork will set up with Coleman on Richie Leahy or whoever and they’ll stick someone bulkier like Joyce, if he’s playing, on Walsh.

Usually named at wing forward, he seems to roam around wherever the ball looks like it’s going to reenter the atmosphere.

That’s exactly what will happen. Wally will follow Coleman all over the field and Cork will send Cooper deep to follow Walsh.

PM maintains he’s best as an inside forward rather than a half forward and that despite the odd spectacular catch he’s not that great a puck out winner, or at least not so great as you’d expect for a man of his size. He also reckons Walsh makes questionable decisions and is better closer to the goal bushting up the play and having fewer decisions to make.

He hits a lot of wild shots alright.

The bitterness was seeping through his Examiner article on Saturday. It was gas.

Cork need to come up with a galway like brainwave and assign the smallest player on the panel to mark wally.

“Busting up the play” is a great expression

Any chance of a link?

Was Stevie McDonell getting minutes yesterday to prime him for man marking job against TJ?

Inside, yeah. Most teams would tend to line-out their half-backs in their own positions though.

Coleman certainly plays on the left the vast majority of the time.
