I never rated Walsh as an inside forward, he is at his best carrying ball and barrelling around the place. He struggles to get out in front and turn his man as an inside forward and his horrendous striking technique means he can be bottled up and struggle to to take scores under pressure.
He can be tough to contain once he steams onto a break and is facing the goal, doesnât happen all that much playing inside.
Cork do vary it and will have a plan, they played him centre back in last years Munster final with Eoin Cadogan at left half back to counter act Peter Duggan at right half forward.
I would disagree with that. I think his pace, power and work rate make him invaluable in the half-forward line, heâs almost impossible to contain when running at goal.
Barring a height mismatch (which could be the case), I donât see him being suited to playing inside. Good for switching in and out of full-forward though.
Ok guys I was just relaying PMâs view and having not seen much of Kilkenny was curious as to where Walsh was in fact being positioned. No need to shoot the messenger.
Davy didnât reinvent hurling so why are you saying he did?
Why is Davy getting praise? You had underage winning teams and other good players to base this senior success around
Gizzy Lyng is a vital voice (!!!) and he advocates wildness; you donât get that wildness with a sweeper
Wexford won the minor playing with a sweeper (point of order - Wexford minors didnât play with a sweeper)
Why are you celebrating beating us? It was only a 3-point margin, we missed a load of chances and weâre not very good anyway
Those Tipp fucks canât win 2 in a row (he mentions Tipp not doing back to back titles in most articles, the way Jackie Tyrrell crowbars in references to getting the better of Lar Corbett into his columns)
Would Cork want Coleman occupied with Walsh or TJ anyway? If they can have him on less of a handful of a player or even freed up wouldnât they prefer that to have him getting on ball and starting attacks?
Youâd imagine that would be the plan, yeah, heâs definitely the most comfortable on the ball of their half-back line. But Kilkenny would try and disrupt that as much as possible.
The point about he minors really baffled me. Considering that was our second game against Kilkenny, I found it quite odd that he would just make up stuff that is very easily proved incorrect. I spoke to a Kilkenny guy recently and he told me how all the Wexford underage teams are copying Davy with the sweepers. When I told him they werent and Davy has absolutely nothing to do with the underage he was adamant that Wexford coaches were priming their teams to prepare for playing with sweepers. He got his info from a reliable Kilkenny source and said it wasnt the first time he heard it there. @fran and the rest of them are seriously rattled about Davy and his sweeper.
