Ballyhale was traditionally around 800 and is now around 1100.
17/03 is a nightmare to get to Dublin .
It really isnât, itâs exactly the same as every other day
No . It is a torment .
All of this is correct of course but its the exact same at club level except that thereâs generally a higher proportion of neutrals at club games than county games. Neutrals at All Ireland Finals are a small minority while I would say at the majority of county finals neutrals are the majority, so youâve basically argued against yourself here
There is a much higher proportion of neutrals at club All Irelands than at intercounty All Irelands
Already dealt with this
What is actually being argued here ?
Thats a weak argument. Its easy to see why club All Irelands get smaller attendances, donât need to stoop to that level
No need for that bro
Sid thinks that clubs of which there could be 100 or more in a county should be drawing crowds at the same level as the intercounty team
Itâs a hell of a lot more torment driving around Dublin on a working day mate
And itâs a hell of a lot more torment driving into Dublin when thereâs an actual big match on
How on earth did Limerick supporters survive the torment of driving in the Naas Road last August 19th, one wonders
I would give some credence to the likes of Tipp, Kilkenny and Cork from a club perspective. Those three counties have amassed a huge amount of inter county AIs between then so to a certain extent I can understand @the_man_himself s argument. With this in mind, I have absolutely no doubt that a lot of the club rivalry in Galway has probably cost them at least two if not three inter county titles. I donât mean to offend but somehow I donât think youâll disagree. The same can be said to a lesser extent about Limerick when rumours would come out about club chairmen trying to make sure a player or two were included in the panel or even the starting 15
This isnât meant to cause offence mate but as you said you arenât affiliated to a club you just wouldnât get it
Itâs a factor . We are know why club finals donât get big attendances . Club teams donât have mass appeal , many in the participants home county would heartily see them beat , more often than not the hurling finals have been utter shite
Very easily
Club teams donât have mass appeal
Of course they donât have mass appeal. A place of 1100 people played a place with a similar or even smaller number of people last year in the club hurling final and sid expects about 80,000 neutrals to descend on Croke Park for it
This isnât meant to cause offence mate but as you said you arenât affiliated to a club you just wouldnât get it
This is exactly the kind of club snobbery that hurling could do without. Sickening boggerism at itâs most vile. What about the village down the road from âlittleâ ballyhale and the likes, no one in rural Ireland gives a flying fuck about them I see
Oh I get it. Believe me I get it . But unlike you I can look at the overall picture and can see the merits in both sides of the argument.
Train down on Monday afternoon , with about 5 pints of bulmers before departure and at least another 4 on journey down .
25,000 tickets go to non-competing counties for All-Ireland finals and they pretty much always sell out, especially for football finals
Many more people go to your average inter-county game as neutrals than go to your average club game as a neutral
Few give people give much of a shit outside of their own club
Those âneutralsâ who go to All-Ireland club finals are generally from the county of that club so arenât really neutral at all
Job was oxo
