All-Ireland finals attract the interest of the whole country and regularly draw over a million viewers regardless of which teams are involved

All-Ireland semi-finals usually draw upwards of 600-700k

How many people tune in for the club finals?

25,000 tickets go to non-competing counties for All-Ireland finals and they pretty much always sell out, especially for football finals

A sizeable amount of those tickets end up back with people from the counties involved. Still that’s less than a third of the overall crowd. The majority of county final crowds will be neutral

Many more people go to your average inter-county game as neutrals than go to your average club game as a neutral

You can’t compare individual club games with individual county games. A higher proportion of the people at club games will be neutrals than those at intercounty games

With the possible exception of Cork, no one in any club game will bother their holes going to a county final (not to mind any other kind of game) that doesn’t involve their own club. Otherwise you would get a minimum of 20k at every county final in the country. The club finals will draw an average of about 30k per year. That’s with a double header of both hurling and football. You’ll have a bit of a neutral crowd at a county final as people might feel it’s the “county” final and might go out of a feeling of duty

The Dublin final will attract a reasonably decent neutral crowd if it’s an attractive pairing like Vincent’s v Ballymun or something, last year’s final crowd for Kilmacud v Jude’s was poor as it wasn’t seen as an attractive pairing and also was all-Southside

Outside of finals, you’re often talking about two men and a dog at these matches
