All-Ireland Hurling Championship 2019***

It looked like it could be a tough afternoon for the inexperienced Waterford full back line (well two thirds of it) in the first few minutes yesterday, but they didnā€™t end up shipping too much after Conlonā€™s early goal. That Tipperary full forward line seemingly in full flow again will be a different proposition. Maybe its time for a recall for Jerome Maher.

Thereā€™ll be enough Maherā€™s on the field without Jerome

Youā€™d never know. Twould confuse the fuck out of the Tipp lads. Might work

Why wasnā€™t Brick introduced yesterday? Appreciate at 36, thereā€™s not a whole lot left in the legs, but youā€™d have thought if heā€™s a sub and they are struggling so badly to win possession in the forwards, that he has to get thrown on for 20 minutes or so.

Only there for the few words in the dressing room, Brick was finished last year

I agree but he would have shown some heart and fight unlike some of the others that were out there

The last 5mins and they chasing a score or engineering a free it was crying out for Brick

Agree . They donā€™t have enough tippy players for short game .

Regards the new Munster championship format is the trial period for 2 or 3 years ?

It is when you put it like that, but its all about the 15 you have on the pitch. Having such a small pick and tight knit group does have certain advantages. Looking at the demographics, the four senior clubs in the county (all around the Blackstairs as youā€™ve alluded to) wouldnā€™t even have a proper sized town between them.

Borris has a population of about 650 - more large village than town. After that, thereā€™s nothing over 300. Myshall has a population of about 280. Ballinkillen and St Mullins would barely even have a village between them.

Watched the Sunday game last night. Corks backs were a shambles, Tipp did show lovely movement at times but hard to measure how good they are based on Corks defensive set up. Cooper was a huge loss too.

Cork only have 15, last year showed that. Cooper is an absolute lynchpin. The fact they tried to get him started when he wasnā€™t near right shows just how much they need him. Itā€™s a killer blow for them, likely a knockout blow in truth, and theres a lot to be said for 4 going through from munster. Iā€™ll hold judgement on tipp. Everything fell in their favour, but Cork w are always on thin ice with that panel.

Not even 15 in truth, probably 11 of the required standard, plugging gaps for the remainder, the bench options are no worse in truth

Ah but when they are in full flow, they are a sight to behold. Itā€™s a right shame.

There was surely one or two more from the u21s last year worth a shot?

The problem with the current team is that they are soft ā€¦ and thatā€™s the truth of it. Itā€™s fine having 11 up to standard if the lads plugging the gaps will work their holes off and spoil their opponent - This Cork team just dont have that nasty streak in them ---- lovely stick work - their forwards a joy to watch etc. etc ā€“ but would they kill their granny?

While all of the above may be through, there was an added pressure on Cork this year. Back to back Munsters, 3 semi defeats in a row meant that the Cark public demands this year. That mantle has not sat well with management or players

Dalton was a star on that 21 team and heā€™s considered a bit of a joke by the knowledgeable TFK crowd, I canā€™t think of anybody else that would be an improvement on whatā€™s there, I completely agree though about workrate but Sunday was a dreadful performance m, so much schoolboy touch and handling errors, they wonā€™t be as bad on Sunday

No, they wont ā€¦ I expect a serious bit of fire in the belly Sunday - itā€™s not quite do or die, but lose Sunday and iā€™d say itā€™s out of their hands ā€” theyā€™ll be pumped up and have already beaten Limerick in Limerick this year

Cooper is such an enormous loss to that team, thatā€™s the problem, and why I just canā€™t see them winning.
