Stephen has a bit about him but I was surprised and disappointed with Shane yesterday. A lot of good forward ball came his way yesterday but he was beaten to it every time by the corner back. Seemed like either poor eyesight or an inability to anticipate.
Was sun in his eyes?

I genuinely think that the only thing Waterford are lacking is that little bit of cuteness. OK it might not happen for them this year but with a new management team in its first year and a season under their belt, itāll come.
They have fuck all to lose next Sunday so they may well cut loose
Personally I donāt think Shane is an inside forward. Iād be looking to have him playing in the half forwards.
Stephen should not have been left on the freeās Yesterday. He missed a 4 or 5 and that came down to the winning of the game. He was going ok from open play and Mahony wasnāt involved enough. So by putting Mahony on the frees (and he is a better free taker imo) it would have got him more into it.
Even when he did get out in front he managed to lose the ball.
We have 1259 forwards on the field?

Waterford are lacking a lot of forwards Mike. What they would give for a Marty Kavanagh or a Stephen āPickyā Maher.
Thought the same thing about Marty Kavanagh when I was listening to the Carlow game on the way home from the match.

Iād nearly say the opposite, I think a top midfield is essential for All Ireland success. Itās such a demanding role in the modern game but you have to have two highly-mobile players who are able to win dirty ball, always be available for a pass and able to contribute scores.
Sometimes they will be bypassed, yes, but they still need to offer support all over. And when things become congested in the middle, the winning of that battle can be the winning of the game.
Bar Aussie their forwards are poor. Maurice is inconsistent but they have to start him
Weāll have a much better idea of where we stand after the next round of matches.
I think Stephen Bennett is a great bit of stuff but shouldnāt be on the frees.

Hard to know. Heās a bit of a blunderbuss but he can unsettle defenders.
Waterford need ball winning forwards not tippy tappy loose ball forwards like Hogan, Mahony, Ryan and Kearney.
I would like to see Shane Bennett further out the field, I think he could be the best of the three brothers. Stephen doesnāt seem as mobile as he was, bulked up a bit too much. Iād start Curran and Shanahan v Tipp and Iād nearly put Moran up in the forwards too.
Like the league, we start games too slow, thatās fine in the league but not championship
