Nouveau, middle class clubs usually have to go through a period of underachievement in which people laugh at them as they consistently lose to harder, less talented teams from more established clubs.

Then they eventually win, and bang, a monster is created.

Cork maybe need to utilise more players from clubs bordering Limerick.

Sure isn’t one of their “best players” Darragh Fitzgibbon a Castletown/Ballyagran man born and bred. 100%.

But Ballyagran or Limerick weren’t good enough for his father, he was going to win loads of All Irelands with Cork and his father wasn’t one bit shy about telling Limerick work colleagues about it either, nor was Darragh as he was growing up.

That went well for them.

Wouldn’t matter, hed be pushed to make the 36 not to mind the 26.

I don’t. I was gone out of it well before he married the girl. I know the father spends alot of time in Ballyagran. The uncle knows him well. But that doesn’t suggest anything. I still stand my opinion though that he wouldn’t make the limerick panel. A nice skilful hurler but doesn’t possess the workrate required.

We lost Darragh Fitzgibbon but gained Peter and Mike Casey (their farm is in Co. Clare just over the border but thanks to their mother they went to school and hurled over the border in Caherdavin and Na Piarsaigh)

Daragh fitz is from the cork side of the border. His father is a nice man. Would have been bizarre if Daragh was playing in Limerick.

Declan hannon I think started with Croagh and moved to Adare at a young age but you won’t hear many of the Limerick posters talk about that.
