Finally managed to watch the match back there.
It really was proper Championship. Two teams going at it hammer and tongs. Not an inch ceded either way.
Galway had been poor enough in the championship to date IMO, poor against Wexford and in the Leinster final, but they were excellent yesterday. Shefflin really had them pumped and well drilled, which was surprising considering they were fortunate enough to get over Cork only two weeks before. I think the handshake furore really lit a fire under him, him and they will be all the better for it next year. Learn more in one year at intercounty than 20 at club level.
Those two Mannionâs are still chronically underrated. Class players and have been for years. Always seem to play well against us. Maybe it was a few of the wides from some of their less experienced players which ultimately was the difference. With five mins to go it was a toss of the coin job but the experience and adherence to the system saw Limerick home. Barely.
Galway really exposed some flaws which is probably no bad thing. Murphy killed us with the long puck outs, they got so much joy out of them. Laser guided every time. Blessing in disguise perhaps, better to prevail in a semi final that way than win by 20 points and you think all is rosy.
Big tactical and selection dilemma now. Gillane is incredible but Cody will aim to do another Tony Kelly on him. They did well enough on him in 2019, but that was as much to do with dog work of those outside.
The one thing with this group is they never panic - theyâll keep trying to do the same thing whether 6 points up or 6 points down. Youâll always get a boost from the subs, and not necessarily the bigger names. Boylan in the Munster final and Reidy yesterday.
Youâd hope there is one big display left, but this group has been on the go for a few years now. Kilkenny as per usual will be absolutely ravenous so itâll take something superior to anything produced this year so far to beat them.
Looking forward to it. It should be some battle.

Ed Shearan came to Cork and they lost their shit. Red FM became âEd FMâ and they rolled out banners saying âwelcome home Edâ ⌠Genuine world famous people rock up to Limerick and they just shoot the breeze with the locals and are left go about their business. Night and day.
